Ever notice how people texting at night have that eerie blue glow?

Or wake up ready to write down the Next Great Idea, and get blinded by your computer screen?

During the day, computer screens look good—they're designed to look like the sun. But, at 9PM, 10PM, or 3AM, you probably shouldn't be looking at the sun.

f.lux

F.lux fixes this: it makes the color of your computer's display adapt to the time of day, warm at night and like sunlight during the day.

It's even possible that you're staying up too late because of your computer. You could use f.lux because it makes you sleep better, or you could just use it just because it makes your computer look better.

Free for iPhone and iPad.
(also available for Windows, Mac, Linux )

f.lux makes your computer screen look like the room you're in, all the time. When the sun sets, it makes your computer look like your indoor lights. In the morning, it makes things look like sunlight again.

Tell f.lux what kind of lighting you have, and where you live. Then forget about it. F.lux will do the rest, automatically.

Yes late, but some may not know

It's new to me. Already installed and running. Thanks.

Man, I've even used sunglasses while using the computer at night. I've got a decently sized LCD flatscreen HD monitor and it seems too bright on the lowest settings sometimes. But during the day it'll seem too dim. Never really payed attention to it.

It'll look really orange at first. Give it a day though. I use 2 27" screens so it was a life saver for me.

Gotta get it running on my iPad ..anyone know how? *edit* got it running on my iPad, worth jail breaking just for this. I can use my iPad at night finally

Installed this over a year ago. Honestly I don't know if it's working properly or not.

Interesting! Thanks for sharing the info. Installed it. I instantly see the difference, but I probably have to disable it when I do photo and video editing. Looks like my monitor is broken.

If it's easy on the eyes though maybe it's worth keeping.

Keep it on for a few days then turn it off one night. You'll cringe

Man I already uninstalled it!!! The brown/orange color was bugging me! Is it something that I have to get use to then not see the difference?

I couldn't even turn off the program, reason why I uninstalled it.

^ So there are controls for it? Even when I uinstalled it, the color was still there. I had to restart my pc to have it normal again.

^ Yeah, the controls were right next to my clock and airport icon in the top right. If you're rocking the black menu bar you won't see it though so you'll have to click on it to find it.

I DLed this last year, and still use it.
I honestly lost the ability to tell the difference after a few months. Now it's nothing to me.
It's DEFINITELY easier on the eyes, though.

Almost a week later. I love this app. I turned it off to see the difference and without it at night my screen is OD bright.

I installed it last night and noticed I did fall asleep faster than I usually do on Sunday nights. It does have a brownish/orange color with it but if it helps me sleep easier, I can get used to it.
