LC Bred 11s 2001? 2008? Mom needs help!

I apologize if i am posting in a wrong forum, but I am clueless. My 11 year old son really wants these shoes and neither him nor I know if they are real. I dont want kids making fun of him at school and since I cannot afford them brand new, this may be our lucky break? My coworkers son is selling them to us for $60 and says it is a deal. I have seen them on ebay going for more than twice that amount. Can you please tell me if they are real. I have googled but its not the same. There is no box and they are clearly used, but my son still wants them and is even using $50 from his allowance to help me and has been a great student. I am worried because the "jumpman" is backwards on the left shoe and the 23 looks weird, but i am a novice i do not know of jordan shoes much. Thank you in advance.

What an awesome mom. You came to the right place and I'm sorry to say but these are definitely not authentic. The way you can tell is from the 23 on the back of the shoe. They're way too wide. I'm not sure how mean kids would be at that age after seeing someone wearing fake Jordan's. But I wouldn't get them if you're concerned about that. If it doesn't bother you then the choice is totally up to you.

so is the 23 the only tall tell sign? how about the backwards jumpman? anything else?

So the backwards jumpman is from 2001 but the 23 looks like it is 2008 or 2012. Get a pic of the production tag that should be on the inside of the shoe. It'll tell you when that shoe was supposedly made.

I stand corrected. These are actually legit! I thought these were the '08 or '12. Also forgot that these were a Grade School size. You are good mam! They are 100% legit '01 Retro GS Bred 11's. You're son will be one happy kid.

For the '01's, yes. They were especially high on the GS sizes. The OG's had the highest PL cut, almost covering half the shoes. Lol
