That's just not true man. Wrong on so many levels.
I could move to Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Korea, etc. tomorrow and still make damn good money doing the exact same thing I do now. Not every country outside of the US is a third world industry-less country or tourism based country
Yeah I'm not speaking on Asia or Europe fam.
You didn't specify that in your initial posts. You just said "outside of the states"
own property, live off da tenants rent.
alot of my family does this in DR.
No but I've been outside the country and know people that have settled outside of Canada in Dominican republic and live GREAT lives....however they are entrepreneurs getting paid in Dollars as if they were living here....which is why they can afford to live good and even home school their kids....picking up and moving to the island without an establish source of income...you are planning to fail....I can't speak for Europe or Asia as I've never been there....but majority of Latin America I don't see how is possible....but enlighten me...I wanna make the move and being a photographer I can come up with a solid plan on how to...but I'm still scared to do so.

Yeah that's what I mean by being an entrepreneur....opening up a restaurant, real estate properties, etc....but for all that specially owning properties you gonna need a good connect specially in a place like DR so that your tenants don't end up robbing your **** blind....when I was in Tulum all those boutique hotels were owned by Americans and Italians, all the little shops were owned by Americans...my wife follows a blogger that makes bank off YouTube/IG that moved and settled with her family there as well...living like royalty out there....just awesome.
There's all kinds of affordable travel insurance out there. I'm usually lazy and just get it packaged with my flight. I only paid $100 on top of my flight for a years worth of travel insurance that covered health care.
I'm really not sure about the Asian immigrant vs. Asian tourist dynamic but it's not like I witnessed rampant racism against Asians. I didn't even witness any specific actions that were racist.
I said what I said because I just kind of perceived a weird overarching vibe of a lack of respect towards the Asian locals. Specifically, it seemed like they were all grouped under one umbrella. Chino or Chinese was used to describe any person of Asian descent, regardless of their origins and it was normal. I wasn't used to that coming from the Bay and to me thats a fundamental lack of cultural respect.

I'm not gonna spend a lot of time trying to convince you, but I used to be on the everybody who travels the world is a trust fund baby tip too.
You're pretty wrong though. My close boy just moved back to the states after teaching English in Medellin for 3 years. He was actually the one who convinced me to head to Spain.
Another friend of mine has been living in Santiago, Chile for 5 years. Got a scholarship to play football at Tennessee and literally said he was never coming back to the hood. Minored in Spanish, graduated, moved to Chile with no job or connections, made it work the first year, pure luck landed him a small job as an actor, he had zero acting experience, 5 years later he's finessed that into being a local television star. Not a lot of 6'5" 250lbs swole black dudes in Chile, extremely limited supply for that typecast. He leveraged his uniqueness and social intelligence to get where he's at.
It's easy to say oh that's a unique situation, that can't happen to me, or its not possible to do this or that, but that's a scared mentality. Man you're unique, go carve out your own path.
There are a ton of British and Australian young people making living wages teaching English in South America. We, Americans, are under represented because too often we're too sacred to leave our comfort zone, or we're culturally inept.
I've heard good things about Columbia also.
There is a big difference between spending a couple of weeks on vacation somewhere and actually living there.
I've travelled quite a bit in Asia. Lots of dope places, some i could see myself staying for longer period of time. But living? I don't know man. leaving my family and my brothers here while i live on the other side of the planet? Idk.
And my city is dope. Except the winter.
Not saying no to living abroad. But i'd have to go with my future wifey and have a >>>>> quality of life.
My GF would kill you lol. That's the biggest pet peeve of Colombians, it's spelled with an O. I learned the hard way lol. Latina women are crazy.
i knew a few cops that retired with their pensions to DR...they live like KINGS...
da key is have American dollars flowing but living out there.
or just apply your American ingenuity ..its stupid easy to have a business out there.

No one is talking about you specifically, except for how wrong you are when you make sweeping statements like "you can't support yourself financially outside the United States unless you're an entrepreneur or living off prior wealth"
Obviously a man providing for his kids is limited by his responsibilities and commitments.
Read the thread, it's painfully obvious that the context pertains to individuals without dependents.
Do govt. contracting and take jobs overseas for months throughout the year or for a year at a time.
When i was stationed in Greenland for a year, lot of americans do that.
Come there for 6 months, tax free.. and go home for 6 months.
When I was in afghan/qatar... govt. contracting.
Just racking 6 figure tax free jobs.
I plan on doing same after I get out the air force.

I guess technically you can support yourself anywhere if you are low maintanece, unfortunately I don't want to move out the country to lead a struggle life, I'd want to own a glass house on beach front property and not have to clock in to work a day in my life....anything less than that, I'm buying a crib in Teaneck, NJ
So just to recap, you've back tracked from:
1) it's impossible settle or support yourself outside of the United States without owning a business or living off your parents trust fund to...
2) Europe and Asia aren't included in "outside" the United States to...
3) it's impossible to do if you have kids to provide for to...
4) technically I guess it can be done anywhere if you're low maintenance.
Got it.
Nah man but seriously, you should read the thread. Minimizing unnecessary expenses and the lower cost of living were already brought up. I already made the point that people living ccomfortably in foreign countries off ELS wages aren't lining up for Supreme or concerned with adding to their sneaker collection.
