It's his ritual. Baron chews the same amount of Juicy Fruits a game and changes to a new stick of gum at the same junctures of the game too. KG has asimilar one to LeBron and the powder. Duncan has one where he hugs the ball and whispers something to it. Monta Ellis has ritual where he dips his hands intohot wax to loosen up the joints in his hands.

If the crowd needs to see him throw powder to get hyped for a playoff game, they need a new crowd.

I don't think they NEED it...it's just something that gets them hyped. There are several other players who have pre game rituals that gets thecrowd pumped too.
