let this thread die (NYK)

Say it ain't so, not Shump! NY ain't had a young cat with that much upside since a young Sean Carter in the ain't no %@%*! video.

Some of y'all need to step away from the ledge and chill out. Let's see if they can find a third team...I am pretty sure management is doing everything they can to not include Shump in the deal.

You keep Shump to guard D Wade end of story. You wanna win a ring you need to beat the Heat. Dolan's a douche.

im a die hard mets fan, and losing Shump would hurt more than losing Jose did. call me crazy.

I truly believe this bc if they weren't trying or didn't have anything cooking, the deal would be announced already.

Come on Grun! I have faith!

We finally get a ROOKIE that can defend the two most dangerous guards in our conference...a guy that can easily average 15ppg for the next decade, he can pass, rebound and doesn't back down from any challenge...and we trade him for a 37 year old player who plays no D and will be playing for a defensive minded coach?

Remember how J. Kidd's level of play just dropped of in one off-season around this age?

I really hope Nash can make Melo and STAT mesh and have our offense at top gear...cause we're really going to need it to cover up all the holes in our roster when this trade goes through.

You are nuts
three straight losing seasons, and Tejadas emergence eased the pain, im not saying it didnt hurt. winning helps.

.   Without an elite perimeter defender, you don't win in the NBA...period.
Not when D-Wade and Lebron are in your conference and are defending champs.  Nash and some other SG as the starting backcourt=swiss cheese.  Tyson already has to make up for Amare on D...he can't do that and make up for the guards too.

Nash AND Shump together...that's what the Knicks need.

Hopefully they find another team to make this deal happen and keep Shump out of it, because this news is disgusting

We had no chance of winning with shump as presently constructed. That's the problem. It hurts but I'd rather have Nash for 3 years. By the time the contracts are up we may suck anyways

Exactly. But it actually speaks volumes to me that Kidd said he would come and not care about the $, and Nash would make us trade away our starting 2 guard to pay him more. I remember Kidd saying last week he doesn't care about the $, and he'd love to work w/ Jeremy Lin and make him better.
I like Nash, but it really bothers me that he'd give away assets on the team he'll play for just so he can get a few more mil in his pocket. Melo did something similar, but Denver had a lot more leverage in that situation bc Melo wasn't a FA yet and there was a new CBA coming up. If Nash wanted to, he could come here for 3.1 and we don't lose anything. He could even tell phoenix, take a 2nd rider from the knicks and sign+trade me for gadzduric or i'll sign elsewhere and u get nothing (in which case he gets almost 5 mil). But it's becoming apparent he won't play here unless he gets paid. Shumpert doesn't even have a big contract, so it's not like it'll boost his salary that much. I guess Nash wants so much money that he wants the suns to take enough contracts that we'd have to lose shumpert.

This isn't all on the Knicks management, who are simply seeing what they have to do to put together a deal for Nash. Steve Nash is a free agent, he can take any deal he wants. It's his decision to say, let's gut the team I'm going to so I get paid (just like it was w/ Melo). I'm not a huge shumpert fan, but I'd be very upset w/ Nash if we trade Shump away so Nash can get a bigger contract. If he's about the $ he should just sign w/ TO.

It took one off-season for them to go back to their old habits.

I can take the Toney D. loss I was kind of hoping for it, but the loss of Shump I don't know if I can take.
He quickly turned into my favorite player

If this deal goes through I'm gonna have to fall back with my hardcore fanship and turn into an above avg casual fan and somewhat follow what the Hornets are doing.

I'm probably just talking crazy. just cause of the moment

I just think it is hilarious that the last straw to people is shumpert. We are going to be in complete rebuild mode in 3 years.

Is it official? I haven't been following all day, I just saw Proph post an angry message on my wall on FB

Knick fans arent happy.

Shump isnt happy.

Donnie Walsh wouldnt approve.

Dantoni isnt happy (since he's not the coach with Nash here).

This trade only benefits Nash. Not a good move.

Getting Nash is going to be like trading for a better version of amare plus a tutor for lin I just think its a necessary evil that must be done.

just call Toronto and tell them withdraw the offer they gave Fields. Then use Fields in the S+T for Nash. There is a boatload of FAs toronto can give 20 mill to

+$*! Nash just get Kidd

Honestly, Nash makes the team better right now. It obviously sucks for the future (as soon as next year with a 40 year old PG) but if you want Amare to succeed instead of waste away, then Nash is the answer.

Shump wasnt going to play THIS season anyways so what was the team going to do in the mean time?

You can't try and win now and build for the future at the same time in this league. It's one or the other.

I don't see Nash making us a much better team, Amar'e a dramatically improved player or bringing us anywhere close to a being a championship contender.

Steve's not gonna stop Melo from being an isolation wing player, he's not gonna stop Chandler from taking Amar'e's paint position and he's not gonna make STAT and offensive rebounder so he can get easier buckets.

He will continue to get abused by opposing guards, though. It'll just be Jrue, Rondo, Wade and Rose instead of Westbrook, Isaiah Thomas and CP3.

The construction of this team with our "big 3" is what it is. We just needed to add more pieces to make a more complete team...not take away a critical piece for another big name.

Kidd or Dragic would've brought similar results and allowed us to be a more complete team.
