..This is kind of a spin-off of the hottest artist thread. People always want to debate who's the hottest right now, but not who will actually still be "relevant" in hip-hop 5+ years from now.

Taking the current list of "popular" under 30 artists, who do y'all think will actually have a career in rap and who might fade into the distance.

rap fans are too fickle

back in the 90's alternative rock bands would only have like 2 hits and sellout tours for

like 15 years because their fans didnt care about the media

blink 182 aint have a hit in like 11 years and could go on tour right now

dave matthews band aint had a hit in like 15 years and did like 400k first week

last year

but nobody trynna go to a nelly tour

its crazy someone like 50 can sell 10 million copies

in 2003 but 10 years later his core fanbase that'll support

any cd he drops is probably down to maybe 60k

closest thing we have to a rock following in rap is

outkast, tribe called quest and wutang....wutang being the lesser

of the 3

also trends in hiphop had a lifespan of 10 month - 2 1/2 years

prior to the blog boom of the mid 2000's.

dudes rocked fubu, throwbacks, tommy etc for a good 3 years

nowadays trends come and go in literally 4 month increments

Drake is the only one I have true confidence in, any one else can easily fade into bolivia, even Kendrick.

my son the weeknd's gonna be around until he od's...
