Batum isn't high usage tho. In Charlotte maybe, but not in Portland.
True.

I'm not sure the Lakers could get the most out of Batum if they are keeping Russell, Clarkson and Randle around. Or they would risk stunting the youngsters' growth.

Boogie will be pursued if 1 of two things happwn, possibly independent of each other, but likely having to be in combination.

1. We lose the pick or get #1 and draft Simmons
2. We strike out in FA on a big man (Whiteside/ Horford)

Being realistic both have a good chance of happening and Randle/Clarkson will be dealt.

Prepare yourselves for the panic moves.

I'm turning in my fan card and all together done watching the lakers if we get Boogie.

I'm not fond of him at all.

They either have to fully commit to the young guys and go completely with them only just supplement with guys who don't need the ball offensively or somebody gots to go quite frankly. Which is why really Whiteside and Horford are the only likely targets, if you're keeping all 4 guys.

He's not but alluding to what P said he's at his best in the point forward role and we have some guys that might make that difficult for him. I feel like if we got him he would revert back to Portland batum.

And we're not trading for boogie :lol. Just like kevin love, rondo and all the other rumors, that's been buried.

Just something to think about when some guys try to draw comparisons to OKCs and GS foursomes in terms of building.

Even when they were not the players they are today you kind of had a staggering of the lineups that allowed them to maximize their talents. You rarely had 3 high usage offensive guys on the floor at the same time for long stretches. In OKC you had KD and Russ but Harden was coming off the bench and Ibaka was there to do the dirty work, block shots, rebound and play defense.

Even in GS after they got rid of Monta, Dray doesn't have to score he does other things and often Barnes just floats and scores sporadically if at all. He just really plays D. The kids we have right now don't really look to make plays for others or do any type of defending. Julius has a great motor, but is a black hole. Clarkson is similar to a lesser degree, if he's not scoring or has the ball in his hands he doesn't do much. D'Lo has the playmaking ability. And Nance is your consummate do whatever is necessary guy.

It's honestly why I'm a proponent of making one or both Clarkson/Randle subs if we keep this draft pick. Much easier to let them do their thing against 2nd units and it be conducive to winning.

It's nuts to me that

1) people think Whiteside is getting anything other than the max from a team
2) People are Ok with Whiteside, but dont want Boogie due to his "behavior"

Am i willing to give up all of our young guys for him no, but a trade Based on either Randle and throw ins or JC and throw ins i'm all for. dude is 25, a top 10 talent, and signed on a relatively cheap contract for the next two years. when the problem isn't off the court issues talent>>>

When your a team lacking talent i can't see the Lakers turning this down if it's available.

The other options are guys like Batun, Horford etc etc who have already hit their ceiling, are injury prone, and even at their best wouldn't be pieces that grant you a contender. I rather come away with Nobody this summer than paying guys like that Max money.

whiteside was out of the damn league as a young atletic shot blocker dude was out of the league... has played well for a season and a half and now he's somewhat more valuable than cousins ?

He's more valuable when you factor in, you give up zero for Whiteside.... And give up most of your assets for Cousins...

Thing about cuz...lakers weren't willing to pull the trigger when guys like randle and russell and nance were unknown entities. So why do it now when you clearly see their potential and big cuz is still a knucklehead with a year less on his contract and still on the outside looking in on what should probably be a playoff team? Doesn't make sense. And don't give me any of this jeannie deadline bs, she's a joke.

Portland Batum is fine for what we need, 3&D.

IF some sort of injury occurs, he can add to that, but not required.

And it lets Ingram (If we pull him) develop under the surface.

In time, when kids are ready, if a move is there to make, you can flip Batum and __ for whoever. (Or Ingram and __ if that is the desired package)

Read again i said either Clarkson or Randle.... along with some fillers......... Boogie Now>>>> clarksons potential & Randle's (and i'm high on randle) .. and Boogie is far from being complete as a player himself

sure he's a great fit for a team in the midst of being a contender.... but as a team who's just growing into learning how to win and is short on talent already, paying a 3 & D guy almost 20 mil a year seems INSANE.

You think it's only going to cost Clarkson OR Randle... And some filler?

If the Kings are desperate enough a package around one of those 2 isn't too much of a bad starting point. This is the Kings we are talking about here... the same kings who drafted whiteside & did such a bad job at developing him that he was out the league for two years.

Even if we do manage to keep our pick i would be Fine sending the Pick straight up for Boogie, still leaves us with 4 young assets, One of which has shown clearly he could be a dominate player and still leaves plenty of cap space to bring in another Proven star. all while still remaining young

Exactly.  No reason to give up a bunch of players who are going to be good for a guy who has proven he cant lead a team to the playoffs.

Paying Batum 20 mil isn't insane, it's the market. Salaries are going to climb across the board.

If you add Whiteside/Batum, there's your perimeter and interior defensive presences. Add Randle/Clarkson/DLo to that, there's your offensive guys, who "hopefully" will develop some defensive tendencies as their games grow.

Whiteside
Randle
Batum
Clarkson
DLo

And hopefully Ingram/Nance/Brown/Black/#32 as some form of depth.

Add a body or two to this as you can.

That gets you out of last place and on your way back as the kids grow. Get the right coach, speed up the process.

Then IF a guy comes available, you have the assets to make a play, ala Pau.

I'm going to search for guys who could be on the trade block this summer.

For the right guy, I'd give up #32 easily.

I'd we get Ingram, would you necessarily need/want Batum? I mean all the complaining about young guys not getting minutes this season, I would think y'all would want to maximize his playing time as well.

Think you could slide Batum down to the 2.. Ingram stays at the 3.

Clarkson becomes the 6th man, first sub in.

Lou Williams becomes a sacrificial lamb

You gotta sign "somebody" with 60 mil in space. Can't give it all to Whiteside.

And do you want 19 year old Ingram checking Bron, Durant, Kawhi, Melo etc?

Let him learn for a year or two under Batum.

DLo/Randle different cuz we WANTED to lose and let them learn. Ingram will get PT, but don't wanna kill the kid. :lol

There aren't really positions in the NBA anymore. Just perimeter, wing, and front court. Batum and Ingram can play together and their roles wouldn't change whether they are listed as SG or SF.

Whether we want to lose our not it'll happen. Midas whale see what the kid has. I don't think MJ is letting Batum go anyway
