LOCK IT UP - College Football - 2009 Season/2010 Off-Season

It's official now. David Brandon announced today, 2011 will be a night game vs ND.

Very funny how Brian Butler was 'advising' both Arthur and Bryce to go ANYWHERE but KSU in their intial recruiting process, but now they both will end up there next fall after redshirting.
RB Brown leaving Tennessee
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Running back Bryce Brown left the Tennessee program on the first day of the Volunteers' spring practice, coach Derek Dooley said.

Dooley said Brown told him Thursday that he was dealing with family and personal problems that included "some of the reasons why he came here." Brown was not present for practice.

"I was a little surprised, but you can only control what you can control," Dooley said. "He went through the entire offseason, but I also think that this wasn't something from the last three weeks. But I'm not here to recruit. I'm here to coach."

The Wichita, Kan., native averaged 38.3 yards in 12 games as a freshman in 2009.

Brown was rated as one of the top recruits in the nation in 2009, and his recruitment process drew a lot of attention thanks to his relationship with adviser Brian Butler.

The NCAA investigated whether money was improperly raised for Brown to visit colleges while in high school. Neither Brown nor Tennessee, who was not recruiting him at the time, were punished.

Brown originally committed to Miami, where his brother, Arthur Brown Jr., played but instead signed at Tennessee after Lane Kiffin was hired as coach.

In January, Kiffin left Tennessee to coach at Southern California and Arthur Brown left Miami and enrolled at Kansas State earlier this month.

Dooley says Brown will remain enrolled at Tennessee for the rest of the spring semester but did not indicate if he would then transfer.

"We want Bryce here. He's going to be here through the rest of the semester, but my focus really is on the 85 guys who are here and have great spirit about the direction of the program and are excited about having our first practice," Dooley said.

Fellow running back David Oku said Brown's decision caught his teammates somewhat by surprise.

"Everybody makes their own decisions. All we can do is hope he doesn't (leave), but we can't control what somebody else does," Oku said. "You know how coach Dooley said, everybody's got to worry about taking care of themselves to get the team chemistry going."

It could be a great year for QB's in the ACC

Michigan will not put up permanent lights because they know that networks will bring in there own for that game and it will save them millions. I guessits a smart move.

Good thing for the night games. A small step to become on the level of the big dogs. Now we just need to see some Ws.

Plus, the atmosphere should be wild if the blue hairs stay home and those college kids can take their place.

Michigan is a major program.

We have just never hosted night games.  I thought they were going to put in permanent lights with all the MAJOR renovation they are doing right now to the Big House, but I guess not...it does piss me of though.
Kiper's top 5s: Returning players

Think of this list as an early guide to the 2011 NFL draft
This list is made up of players who are not in the pool for April's NFL draft but could have been had they opted to jump. You can think of it as an early road map for the 2011 NFL draft. Obviously, some of the top sophomores in the nation also will be in this mix next season.

Things will change greatly in the summer and fall, of course, but guys like Ryan Mallett, DeAndre McDaniel, Marvin Austin and Terrance Toliver will be names to know and watch for.

You can find my latest mock draft for 2010 by going here.

Analysis: This is now Locker's position grouping to own for the next season. Locker, Mallett and Keenum should be on radar screens next fall for the 2011 NFL draft, with Locker -- as I've said before -- a legit possibility to go No. 1 overall in April 2011.

Analysis: Based on where he's ranked here, you'd suspect Devine might be a really high pick in 2011, but I have a hard time seeing him as a first-round guy. I suggested he jump this year because I think he'll have a hard time increasing his stock. That said, he gets this ranking until some others step up as prospects. I suspect they will.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him come into camp with 10 more pounds on that frame, which should help solidify his stock.

That's the right article.

I pulled the link from an ACC blog, so I thought it was about ACC players. But now that I go back and read the blog, they pulled out the ACC players from this list and put 'em in the blog.

The national list makes sense....I guess that's why I didn't see Jacory's name listed in the blog

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida’s search for playmakers outside the hashmarks is no secret. Alabama exposed the Gators’ lack of game-changing receivers in the SEC Championship Game last December. That’s one reason coach Urban Meyer’s top-rated recruiting class included six wideouts, two of whom enrolled at Florida in January. Meyer praised one of the newbie Gators, Solomon Patton, after the first practice of the spring Thursday.

“The guy that looks really good to me is Patton, that little guy who runs really fast,

Late in Wednesday’s opening practice, Thompson got a step open on a deep route down the right sideline. Brantley delivered the ball right into Thompson’s hands. Alas, it did not stay long. Thompson didn’t step back into the drill until he had completed 10 pushups, the price that Meyer charges for a dropped pass in practice.
