If you're targeting another team's assistant coach (Pola), it's common courtesy to alert the head coach of that team (Fisher) of your interests. Don't call the head coach a day after you get a call of acceptance from the assistant
smh.gif

You especially don't do something like that in a profession like coaching, where there's such a strong fraternity of members.
You guys serious with this stuff?  Common courtesy?  If CLK fails at SC, he is DONE.  With his rep, he's not sniffing another elite job for a long time.  You're telling me he was supposed to call Jeff Fisher and tell him that he's stealing his RB coach a week before training camp?  What do you think Fisher would say?  "Hey Lane, thanks for being so considerate with the call, go right ahead and take one of my most important position coaches."  Come on now
laugh.gif

You guys don't realize how fragile this situation is right now.  This recruiting class is heavily linked: DeAnthony Thomas is teammates with Marcus Martin, god-brothers with Victor Blackwell, and close friends with Max Wittek and Antwuan Woods.  You even lose one of those guys and it can have a domino effect and kill the class.  SC can't afford to be recruiting mediocre classes with only 15 scholarships per year.

Like I said before, it was a snake move 100%, but it was also a NECESSARY move.
Not to sound like a douche, but I really can't seem to ever recall you NOT explaining away/making excuses for anything Lane/your program does/has done. If you have and I'm wrong feel free to call me out on it
laugh.gif
Nah that's true, but my defense is that I only post when I disagree or feel the need to clarify something so my posts always slant in one direction.  I don't think what Lane did was right, but all I'm saying is I understand why he did it.  It's just another layer of perspective; not saying everyone else is wrong.

I didn't make the list. And if any of them don't work, bite me.

I just don't understand why you think it's okay for Lane not to make that call for Fisher, that it was justified because it ultimately helps your recruiting class?

If Pola has interest in the SC job, whether it's through a third party or whatever, and if Kiffen wants to interview him, he is SUPPOSED to make Fisher aware and then conduct an interview, even if it's a mere formality. It's just standard practice and a matter of respect, especially for an established NFL head coach who is an SC alum to boot. He still would've hired Pola, it just would've been done properly instead of creating an ordeal.

Kiffen needs to grow up at some point and this isn't a sign of that happening. Instead he feels he can have everything handed to him and from there, get what else he wants.

Kiffin went on to describe his recent conversation with Fisher.

That statement means nothing. That was released on Sunday and on Monday the Titans filed the lawsuit against USC, Kiffin, and Pola. Sure doesn't seen like an understanding between all parties.

Yeah it was a snake move and there's no question why Fisher is mad, but he's been in the media complaining about it for the past few days and now a law suit against the school? Purely out of bitterness and spite?  Really? What if he'd gotten a call from Lane and then 10 minutes later a call from Pola saying "I plan on interviewing with USC, and if they offer me the job I'm taking it 100%" would he still be suing the school?  He needs to get it over it.  The NFL poaches coaches all the time and they do it almost as shadily, if this wasn't Lane it wouldn't even be big news.

Some good vids in there. Funny how special teams saved LSU from a possible 6-6 season last year. Jefferson gotta make it happen this year or that hot seat's gonna be flaming next year for the Hatter.
Southeast wins again
For the second consecutive year, the Southeast team -- made up of players from Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas -- blew through the Gridiron Kings tournament. On Sunday, the Southeast capped its run with a 36-0 win against the Southwest team, which included players from Texas, Oklahoma and Missouri.

No defense could stop Southeast tight end Nick O'Leary. The 6-foot-4, 235-pounder from Dwyer High in Palm Beach, Fla., dominated the linebackers who tried to cover him. O'Leary is considering Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia and Miami. Meanwhile, opposing quarterbacks will have nightmares about Southeast safeties Karlos Williams and Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix, who each returned an interception more than 100 yards for a touchdown in the final. Williams is committed to Florida State, where older brother Vince is a linebacker. Clinton-Dix, known as "Ha-ha" to his teammates, is committed to Alabama.

ESPNU will televise the highlights of the Gridiron Kings tournament on Wednesday at 7 p.m. eastern.

Whoever made that list forgot about Oregon converting two 4th Downs to save their game against OSU and go to the Rose Bowl. Oh well.

The thing that's important here is the wording in Pola's contract with the Titans. It's standard in NFL contracts to contain clauses stating that the coach needs to get permission to interview and/or accept a a new coaching position on another team. Though that clause is usually for interviewing with other NFL teams, I don't know if Pola's contract included college teams. If that's the case, the Titans are absolutely in their right to sue.

I recently learned in General that "What's good?" means you're looking to fight.

Also, Kyle Parker's press conference is going on if you wanna watch.
wink.gif

Eloquently stated, sir. I see FSU is the strong favorite to win the Atlantic. Kyle Parker says +*!* you too.

UF offered Phillip Ely

I don't see any way that he doesn't jump on this, but is this to further lockdown Wilder, or is there genuine interest in him?

DeAnt Arnett leanin hard towards USC. Cant blame him if he decide to make that move....just hope he knows he prolly wont see the field till at least his Jr year out there, plus the redshirt....Really wanna see him stay home tho, things was falling together for a 3rd straight strong class for MSU.

Still like the direction State is headed tho, lookin healthy up there.

How do you think he's gonna adjust to the new system? He has good enough hands to catch the ball out of the backfield and should get plenty of touches that way, but his carries will probably be a lot lower than they would have been in the old system...

OU RB Mossis Madu was arrested for DUI a few days ago, with a BAC of 0.19

i was just about to ask Gunna to explain how their offense is going to change this year after the Leach consultation.  i've been outside the loop.  so now they're going from being run heavy to a pass first air it out offense?  why are they making such a drastic change?
