You won't find a lot for 10k and especially not something still in its bumper to bumper warranty. I'm not sure if the warranty transfers after the first owner, but Kia/Hyundai/Mitsubishi will be your best bet in finding something still in warranty because theirs is longer than any other brands.
As stated, look on Craigslist or other private owner places. You won't get a warranty, but you can usually get a good idea how well the car was cared for by having it inspected by a private mechanic. That shouldn't set you back more than $80 and will give you a full list of anything that's wrong with the car. I went through about 3-4 cars before finally settling on one. Was looking for over a year too, but it's been well worth it since I bought a car with ZERO depreciation value and a solid reputation.
If you just want a beater for that price, look into getting a 2008-2012 Ford Fusion. They have a pretty good history and solid record from what I remember.
x2I say this in every thread but why not just lease?

not really looking for a Hyundai.OP I don't know if it matters to you but for Hyundai's, their car values depreciate substantially. I would look into a different manufacturer if I were you.

Email a bunch of dealerships with what you're looking for and tell them you'll be buying a car soon and you're shopping around for the best price. Take a handful of the best offers and see if they can beat the dealership who gave you the best offer. If they can, email that original dealership who had the best offer and see if they'll beat that new best offer. Once you're happy with the price, go cop.
Anyone can get their own independent inspection before buying a car. It's not some magic that the dealership does, just an "addon" that they can charge a premium for and make more money on the backend since it provides peace of mindif you're not the mechanic type
isn't it just better to pay the markup and get it from a dealership where they have their own auto shop and have performed a full inspection
