Looking to record higher quality...What ya'll using?

I'm on a pc now so all I've really been messing around with is audacity

 I record using a usb mic but I can't record and overdub with it. Recommend me some software or what you use for better quality. Check the sig to see how im sounding now..

I'm using a little gtep se-3. Sounds okay but the music overlays the sounds from the mic when i record...

turn them down or turn the gain down on the mic...

yeah I use headphones, even when there on a low level and I record, once I playback all you can really hear is the music/ beat playing and I sound muffled.
