Growing up Colombian, in a predominantly mexican neighborhood I would always hear Los Bukis blasting out of pretty much every household around me. At the time I would hate on any mexican music(still dont care for mexican music, especially nonsense like Banda, etc....) now that im older, I can appreciate a lot of older Los Bukis type songs.
My parents back then would blast Sonora Dinamita, neighbors would look at us funny.

East coast is heavily influenced by Latin American music. I grew up in the west coast, so around my way it was all mexican music. Back in the 80's NOBODY played Sonora, Niche, Colombian groups around my area.
