Mac upgrade

Looking to upgrade my macbook pro with a better hard drive and more memory. I bought the most basic 13" macbook pro last year and would like more speed when running multiple large programs. What's the best upgrade for between $500 and $1,000 and where is the best place to have it done. Thanks in advance for any info.

enjoy and do it yourself. for speed and programs ram and hdd will ONLY do so much. You need a better processor if your having real issues.

Thats the simplest thing to do. Otherwise get 16 gb and an SSD. Dont mess around with a larger traditional HD. The bottleneck of most systems is writing to the HD. You get a Sata 3 SSD and you'll notice an immediate improvement in your system.

The Samsung 830 is probably the most regarded SSD right now. Other option include Crucial M4 and OCZ Vertex. Be sure to check compatibility before you buy. Same with RAM.
