Male ear piercing and the professional business work field or any other work field ?question?

i have mine pierced and i work at the bank and no one really says anything, but I wouldnt wear them during an interview process..

I think it's not the best idea. I stopped wearing mine a few years ago, and the holes are still visible and open (just little piercings on the lobs, notplugs or anything). If I could go back in time, I would have never got it done.

I got a diamond in each ear. I don't see the problem. Thought about taking them out, but I've had em for so long, there pretty much part of me now.

Either way, I made the decision to take them out and havent looked back since. I do however still wear them out casually.
Yes, I've heard to leave them out during the interview process, and that the interviewee looks for that stuff.

Since you dont wear them as much.... do you feel weird about having tiny holes in your ears? I ask casue this might be the route I'll take.

Rock em till they tell you take em out, just don't rock em to the interview. I just recently retired mines, its an office environment, business casual, buti don't make enough to consider it professional.

It's 2009. Maybe don't wear them in the interview, but after that, very unlikely they are going to say anything to you unless it's in some kind ofcode handbook they give you, and even still I bet you'd find many people wearing them. I work IT for the Government as well and there's plenty of dudeswith earrings, visible tattoos, you name it, same for women. And that's not even just in the Civil Service environment, but when I was with MWR we had tointeract with tons of local high rollers from the Statewide Chamber of Commerce and all kind of other suddity people at those shindigs, plenty of them hadtattoos or ear rings o facial hair or things that are allegedly inappropriate.

There was this white guy who had a colored full sleeve flame that encompassed his whole arm and wore shirt sleeve dress shirts the entire week when we had theInternational Artillery Symposium, and that had the Saudi, Iraqi, and Afghan, and other foreign nation's dignitaries. Nobody cared.

If someone tells you they didn't hire you because you had an earring, they were just looking for an excuse.

I'm an intern at one of the biggest law firms in my city, and we have a couple people with earrings (one with gauges) who work there - but they're inthe 2-year-term-fresh-out-of-college contract doing attorney support. The guy with gauges just wears clear plugs when he's at work - I imagine it wouldlook worse if he just had droopy earlobe holes flopping around.

Yes, it is 2009 and most people like us and around our age can understand that tattoos and piercings do not necessarily entail that you are a goon or a crackhead. However, if your going to be interviewed or working in an environment where older, conservative, traditional people are you superiors, you'll have tomake sure your work speaks much louder than your appearance.

Honestly, this is reality. People do stereotype. It's a gamble - you may work with people who are fine with it, or not. As a person who used to be into allthat stuff and got it done in high school, but is now breaking his back in college: I would pass on getting it done if I could go back. The holes aren'tvery noticeable, but they're there. It hasn't hurt me [yet], but it's not benefitting me in any way - I don't even own a pair of earringsanymore.

is it really that hard to take them off during work? its just like you wouldnt wear a fitted to work or something.
