DAREDEVIL Showrunner Wants R-Rated PUNISHER Show

In an interview with SciFiNow, Daredevil showrunner Steven DeKnight says the Punisher is "due" for a television series after Daredevil and calls himself a "huge fan."

"I’d love to see him get his due on a platform like this," says DeKNight. "Nothing would delight me more than to see the Punisher get his own show and maybe we could convince Marvel to go Hard-R rating. If any character deserves an R rating, it’s the Punisher.”

Although conventional wisdom might say the Punisher would be tamed down with the television format, the unique nature of Marvel's shows on Netflix seem highly conducive for a story like the Punisher's. Daredevil star Charlie Cox says his interpretation of the the character owes itself heavily to the Punisher.

“Steven DeKnight said that Daredevil is one bad day away from being the Punisher,” says Cox. “I thought that was really helpful. Again, it adds to the dark tone, and I think it’s more interesting to watch."

Looking at the streets last night there was something off. I knew this wasn't filmed in Hell's Kitchen. Show was filmed around grand st Chinatown/les/soho. No biggie just an observation.

Wait, are you being serious?  I thought Nolan's Batman was dark enough.

I feel like DD is a bit darker. Just stuff in here you wouldn't see in any Nolan film and not just his Batman trilogy.

Correct. All different directors but possibly the same style. I'm looking forward to these shows, because I don't know too much about the Defenders.

I think the director of DD is currently advocating a Punisher series. Personally, that's one MCU property I probably would pass on, as a viewer. Unless it gets good word of mouth.
