Mass shooting in San Bernardino

How could there be a good guy?

No matter what label is attached to it, no matter the politics, all it is is humans killing humans over power. Power of resources, power of societal structure, power over truth, power over your psychology, power over the public consciousness.

Truth. Brb gonna listen to "imagine" on loop
Used to be a hopeful song for me...now it just feels sad when I hear it.:(

We gotta do better.

I am just getting caught up to this. Rip to the victims. Abominable.

So this was by a couple? We're they also disabled? Will the mental health be looked at? I don't think this has political motive.

Rip to ththe victims .....

InWork in an office with people who bash Muslims, gays,Obama, etc. on a daily

I can already see the arguments I'm going to be In tomorrow .... Going to have to try my best not to get too heated and get fired smh

I am a minority and im by far the youngest person in here. Strangely enough the person is by far the worst about this stuff is a 40 year old black women . She randomly bashes Obama and tries to justify a lot of these police shootings (like the one recently in Chicago) , groups Muslims etc. I usually just throw my headphones on and ignore everybody.

But it becomes an irritant when everybody is yelling about gay people , Obama , Muslims and young black kids. (I fit in the young black kid category)

Sounds like the black lady is trying to fit in with her white co workers.

A married couple? Man....this is so bizarre.

Two things going forward:

1. What the motive was?

2. When exactly will be the breaking point for lawmakers/politicians to do SOMETHING (I won't hold my breath). :{

Definitely she even lies about where she lives to them lol . She told me she lives in one suburb that's ok and then next day she told them she lives in this nice area that neighbors where she actually lives lol.

I just can't stand how people want you to regard police as people of the highest moral fiber, with impeccable judgment, the epitome of professionalism, and as if they're elevated to a status above regular civilians by default. Until they screw up, then "they're just human". But people want to talk about accountability when it comes to poor people and minorities until their blue in the face.

But anyway,

RIP to the victims

It was just reported on the news here that the perpetrators recently went to Saudi Arabia, that and the combat armor, pipebomb, ARs, ... would suggest this was an act of muslim extremist terrorism.

It should be classified as an act of terrorism either way, regardless of whether or not there was a religious motive behind it.

More info needed on the wife. Everything I read is about Syed.

The wife might have brainwashed him..I dont know. Apparently, the guns were legally purchased starting about 4 years ago. Could have been in the works the whole time.

Internment camps might not be the answer but lets try it again for 25 years.
I agree, put all the religious people in internment camps...

start with the christians because they are most likely to commit crime
if you made a chart showing how christians were the most criminal in this country while showing muslims lower you'll be the di vinchi of all rustling.

media is going to have a bunch of cleaning up to do about this story. the slow trail of information has theories all over the place.

Dude worked as an environmental specialist for the Public Health Department. Their offices shared space with the Mental Health Offices.

He was at work earlier in the day, got into an argument left and returned with his wife at the company Christmas party.

He is 28 and the wife 27, they had a 6 yr old baby they dropped of with her grandma and said they were going to a doctors appt.

Havent seen anything leading us down the muslim terrorist line just yet. Couple appears to be prettty "americanized" right now.

After a mass shooting, a police chase and a shootout, a violent day in San Bernardino, Calif., ended in the death of two suspects, authorities say.

Syed Farook, 28, and Tashfeen Malik, 27, were responsible for the Wednesday morning attack that killed 14 people and injured 17, according to San Bernardino Police Chief Jarrod Burguan. After initial concerns that there could have been a third shooter, police are now confident there were only two.

There's much that remains unclear, including the motives of the shooters and the identities of the victims. But briefings from police reveal an hours-long timeline of events:

The Suspects

Syed Farook, an environmental specialist who was born in the U.S., has worked for the San Bernardino County health department for five years.

Tashfeen Malik was Farook's wife, says Hussam Ayloush of the Council on American-Islamic Relations. Malik was born in Pakistan and lived in Saudi Arabia before she married Farook about two years ago, according to Ayloush.

The couple had a 6-month-old daughter, whom they left with Farook's mother on the morning of the attack, Ayloush says.

The Shooting

The attack began on Wednesday morning, at an office holiday party in the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino. The center provides social services to residents with developmental disabilities, but the shooting was focused on an office party for San Bernardino County staff.

As a county employee, Farook was at the party. At some point he left in anger, Burguan says.

He returned with Malik.

Both were dressed in tactical gear and carrying .223-caliber assault rifles, semiautomatic handguns and explosive devices, police say, when they entered the Inland Regional Center and opened fire.

The weapons used in the shooting were legally purchased, law enforcement officials tell NPR's Carrie Johnson.

Fourteen people died and 17 were wounded. Emergency response teams rushed to the facility and roads near the center were shut down, but Farook and Malik were able to escape.

The Pursuit

As the search for the suspects began, hundreds of people were evacuated from the Inland Regional Center. Three explosive devices had been left at the shooting site, and weren't disposed of until late in the evening, Burguan says.

Farook was wearing a ski mask at the time of the shooting, law enforcement officials tell NPR's Dina Temple-Raston, but witnesses to the shooting still recognized him. Based on those eyewitness accounts, police drove to nearby Redlands, to a house associated with Farook. (Member station KPCC has a map of the locations involved in the attack.)

When Farook and Malik left the area around the Redlands house in an SUV, police pursued.

Hours after the attack began, following a chase and a shootout with at least 20 police officers, the two suspects were dead. One officer suffered injuries that are not life-threatening.

A third suspect is also in custody; police are working to determine whether that person was involved in the attack.

Police have not identified a motive for the shooting. They have not ruled out terrorism.

Burguan, the police chief, says there does appear to have been some form of planning involved.

"I don't think they just ran home, put on these types of tactical clothes, grabbed guns and came back on a spur-of-the-moment thing," he said.

why do these attacks never take place in Israel?

obviously they have a whole other thing entirely to defend against in Hamas but I mean the brainwashed citizenized attacks that seem to happen elsewhere in the world. I dont recall ever hearing of Isis/incert radicalist group here attacks IN Israel

They constantly happen. You just don't hear much about it nowadays.

The news here in Belgium still reports on suicide bombings fairly frequently in that area.

If I'm not mistaken, dude was American born.

Co-worker Patrick Baccari told the Los Angeles Times that Farook recently visited Saudi Arabia to meet a woman he met online. They returned as husband and wife.

Farook had a profile set up on iMilap.com, which describes itself as "a site for people with disabilities and second marriage."

The profile said he "enjoys working on vintage and modern cars, reads religious books, enjoys eating out sometimes."

"Enjoys travelling and just hanging out in the back yard doing target practice with his younger sister and friends."

Who were Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik?

SOOOO bizarre.
