Honestly, it is harder to be unique in 2021 than it was in 1991. The internet and tape trading has essentially created this blending of all wrestling styles. It isn't even the fault of the wrestler because this is the case in many other aspects of life. Fashion, Rap, and athletics. Regional distinctions are practically a thing of the past now.
The current generation is simply doing what every other generation has done before it, copy and overdo what the people they grew up watching did.
It is just what humans do, copy.
I like what you said about many wrestling matches looking like choreographed Kung-Fu flicks and that also takes me out of the viewing process. I enjoy the struggle and grit like you mentioned. If it is too clean, it just doesn't seem like a BATTLE. That is why I prefer wrestling from previous generations because it didn't happen as frequently.
THere are some good things out there still, you just gotta find what works for you.
