Still has to be passed in both the House and Senate, but it will be interesting to see where this goes.  National Harbor, while it looks amazing, is VERY underwhelming, IMO.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) – MGM Resorts International struck an agreement on Friday to build a casino destination at the National Harbor waterfront complex near the nation’s capital, if lawmakers end up allowing the casino and table games like blackjack while also cutting the state’s high tax on gambling proceeds.

The proposed casino in suburban Maryland would include about 4,000 slot machines and about 200 table games with shopping, restaurants and a luxury hotel.

James Murren, chairman and CEO of MGM International, met with Gov. Martin O'Malley and Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller on Friday in Annapolis. Murren expressed enthusiasm for MGM to invest $600 million in the casino, combined with about another $200 million from the Peterson Companies. However, he underscored that the state’s “epically high

why does the one at arundel mills only have slots and digital games?

If this one gets live table games, people would flock like crazy since the nearest ones are out in WVA (i think?).

National Harbor is sweet; I stayed there last month for the Phillies/Nats games
but I don't want to go back there after the stupid $125 camera fine I got for 61 in a 50; freakin lame

Funny I still have yet to set foot around the Harbor. Maybe because there isn't much free parking from what I hear. I don't know, I just have never had any urge to go around there.

Inner Harbor > National Harbor

In fairness, NH is only 3-4 years old.  There is a ton of land that can be developed over there, but I think there is much more to do around Baltimore's Inner Harbor as far as restaurants, museums, bars, etc than around National Harbor.  Plus, you can find EASY street parking.  NH, you're coming outta pocket $12 before you unlock your doors to get out

Swag.

Especially considering my old man's company has the exclusive rights to build and manage the first residential property in the Harbor.

They aren't even done with National Harbor. It's far from being what they originally planned for it to be.

Can't wait till they're done. It's gonna blow arundel mills away. But yea the harbor is expensive for no reason, that's one of the reasons I hate going. It's priced in 2025 not 2012 lol.

Hope this doesn't affect your soccer team from getting a stadium done. Been damn near impossible for them but I read that harbor offered some hope.

At least we're getting tables if this gets approved.  We don't need anymore of those adult styled arcade casinos around here.  Lower taxes is a big plus as well

and I'd guess a metro stop would have to be added over there at some point (assuming this goes through)

Hopefully not, the last thing we need is metro access over there.  The youngins would drive that place into the ground just like the Blvd before the last brick can be laid.

I'm guessing they could/would run an extension of the green line from Branch Avenue to there, it would have to be above ground though. Either way,  I still wouldn't want a metro over there.  If some folks cant get there as is then they just can't get there.

Edit--

Similar situations here in MA, but the proposals are being shot down by the general public.

Why??  Are taxpayers being asked to pay the bill??

I would want one too since parking is already high it's like a flat rate of $11 after 6 or 7pm (is that just weekends?)so I can assume it'll only get higher. I just can't see a metro close to that area espcially after all the new construction that went on not too long ago. I just remembered they're also gonna build all those outlets over there suppose to be like 85 stores.

i think national harbor is going to be really nice once it's all done. at this point, i don't know if a casino would be a good thing or not considering i live less than 10 minutes away and could just up and gamble all my money away anytime i wanted.

Bob Kraft and Steve Wynn essentially came to an agreement to build a casino on land owned by Kraft in Foxboro.  Town's people voted out pro casino selectman, replacing them with anti casino reps, basically killing the deal between Wynn and Kraft.  Basically came down to the townspeople simply not wanting a casino in their area, even with promises of jobs, tax revenues, etc.

This is news to me.  I didn't know they were building outlet stores over there.  If so that's.......
