JusaVibe JusaVibe yeah there's subdivisions that have always been pricey, but you also have small 3br/2ba homes in places like the Heights thats going for 1+ mil. I'm speaking towards folks who might leave places like NYC/Miami and go to Houston because its cheaper, with the impression they'll be living in the center of everything in a 3000 sq/ft house for 300k. You can get that house for 300K, you're just going to be far out from the city. The nicer, close-in areas are still relatively expensive, just less expensive than where you'd be coming from.

definitely and agree on all this. Currently the crib is right by westpark tollway so I don’t mind driving in and out the city as needed for Houston. I remember I was going to get one in greater heights or independence but I was like eh. I don’t need to be close to the city 24/7. Those nice closer areas to the city with a lot of space are amazing.

Ehhhh I feel like that only applies to close in suburbs like Arlington or Silver Spring. You’re not finding decent nightlife in like Rockville, Bowie, Woodbridge, etc.

I wasn't considering nightlife as a necessity.

Banking, groceries, hospitals, schools, and recreation were more of what I was referring to as necessities.

Of course ideal nightlife options won't be found everywhere.

I meant most DC suburbs aren’t “little cities” like fam was saying about Texas. There’s more stuff to do in those Texas suburbs outside of basic necessities, so many ppl hike it from the suburbs into DC because there’s nothing going on out there.

Got you.

What would be examples of those little cities in HOU? And what types of things are out there? Peep Game Peep Game

PG does have MGM/National harbor but the spots there close early…Only thing open late in MD in general are hookah spots n BYOB strip clubs, n yall right bout why there aren’t more outside of the city

Also keep in mind physical size…It’s a small compact place so nothing In the area is far compared to a place like Texas, so driving from the burbs to U street to party is nothing like one end of Houston to the other…I be driving from DC to Baltimore n it’s almost the same distance as the whole Houston city limits :lol

mplsdunk mplsdunk Yall ever think about relocating?

Which regions would be best for you ($ wise) in terms of your line of work?

I come in Peace

Anywhere blue that isn’t right to work.

OR putting up wind farms and traveling. But I don’t want to travel that much. But that’s bank.

I would make the most in the PNW and I’d move there but it’s too expensive so the wage increase cancels the pay out.

I think about moving but tbh I’m bringing in guap here in mn and my house payment is 1400 a month on a 15 year mortgage…

Not necessarily. Wouldn't call it "nightlife" but you can have fun out there though, especially if you're older. Been to places in Woodbridge, Bowie, Crofton, Columbia etc. Can't tell me that Bahama Breeze wasn't hoppin.

Used to live by Bowie/Upper Marlboro and it wasn't nothing to hit the city.

Yea it’s more happy hour n date vibes than nightlife but the joints be out…Just gotta have a play set by like 10pm or the night dead if you not pulling up into DC :lol

Yea, we aren't of the age where we really care to stay out to 1/2 PM anymore.

There is a spot in Bowie called "Aroma."

Yea, go check them out.

I really hate the phrase "right to work." Talk about propaganda.

Katy is really affordable near Houston. You can almost have a real middle class there.

Think Austin peeps are eventually gonna have to settle for San Marcos, New Braunfels, or maybe something like Bastrop.

Humans are social creatures. I don’t think most young adults wanna move to a rural part of the country. That isn’t unique to this generation.
I lived in a relatively rural suburb of Atlanta for 2 years, loved the home and subdivision but it was "too" damn quiet. I lived in a cul de sac and every passing vehicle would sent my spider senses tingling. Found myself mad and stressed about the stupidest thinngs like trash in my lawn or a neighbor having a loud car. I need to be in a city atmosphere with constant cars, sirens, train noise and voices at all times of day and night. I'm not yet built for the quiet and secluded life. Tried, failed and ended up back in the city.

Yea Most suburbs are their own lil towns/cities now…Living in ATL was the best n worst for this cuz you can make moves all around the area without ever touching the city BUT traffic was brutal cuz of no public transportation and everybody crossing all over the 100 highways they got there :smh:

A 15 mile commute from the burbs to work inside the city at least an hour from 7am-7pm
If you live somewhere that doesn't have train access, ATL commutes are horrible. 285, 20, 85S and 75N are all terrible. Glad i'm right down the hill from Lenox train station, anyone working in a town with mass transit and accessibility should not drive. I got a garage pass and still won't use it since the train is quicker and them junkies downtown are ruthless.

Yeah for the most part. PG should have more way more bars/lounges given the population and income but you know, racism.
Lets be honest, PG shoots themselves in the foot. Way too many kids coming from well to do families that wanna act hood like the DC kids. Places like cap heights, suitland, and seat pleasant I get but you see youngins from upper marlboro and largo trying to be in the mix and that's when you lose me. PG has a lot of try hards that wanna be dc so they do the pettty crimes annd home invasions despite the high median household incomes.

Trust me. People wouldn't mind living in those places if we had high speed rail in this country. You go to the city and enjoy the night life or work and be back home in an hour or less. Don't have to drive or take an expensive uber.

We need bullet trains. The supposed greatest country in the world and we still don't have bullet trains in 2022 because lobbyists for the airline industry won't let it happen.

Japan has had bullet trains for decades and not one fatality.

It’s amazing how quickly things get built in other countries but in America good luck even getting it off the ground. How do we not have any high speed trains in the US?!

I would never live directly in Katy it’s way too far out even with a family. My guy lives out there and I think his spot is like 45 minutes away :lol. I’d live at the Katy limits right by I-10 though

I like San Marcos and New Braunfels is country as hell to me but I could understand people moving there with it growing and the new developments.

Just bought a condo in Buckhead for a damn good price. The only killer is the $600 condo fees we have to pay monthly. Other than that, totally satisfied.
That fee will be $800 then $1000 in no time
