More than half of the female Marines in boot camp can't do more than 3 pull ups vol. Equality

In boot camp. After they get in shape they should have no problems. Also, not all positions in MC are combat positions. There are also support roles.

Some key passages.

In fall 2012, only two female Marines volunteered for the 13-week infantry officers training course at Quantico, Va., and both failed to complete it.

But the following fall, three Marines became the first women to graduate from the Corps' enlisted infantry training school in North Carolina. They completed the same test standards as the men in the course, which included a 12-mile march with an 80-pound pack and various combat fitness trials such as timed ammunition container lifts and tests that simulate running under combat fire.

Military testing for physical skill and stamina has changed over the decades with needs of the armed forces. Officials say the first recorded history of Marine Corps physical fitness tests, for example, was 1908 when President Theodore Roosevelt ordered that staff officers must ride horseback 90 miles and line officers walk 50 miles over a three-day period to pass. A test started in 1956 included chinups, pushups, broad jump, 50-yard duck waddle and running.

I think the crux of the issue is to allow those women that wish to try a chance, and evaluating if being able to do however many push ups/sit ups really has a bearing on how prepared one is for combat situations.

Hell, chick I know in the Army went push up for push up with my boy that goes to the gym faithfully. I think they got to like 50 straight, no pauses, before they stopped, and she's mad petite.

The Isreali military created some deadly female soldiers, America is too dumb and ignorant to cater training to women's strengths.

PLEASE.

I always hear about this bullcrap about Israeli military strength.

What is so strong about them? That their soldiers harass and murder Palestinian civilians?

Or that their drones kill little kids everyday?

What is so strong about them girls? They practice Krav Maga? The most over-fluffed, hyped, "martial art" there is. Eye-gouges? Groin strikes? Biting? SRSLY?

As a former Marine checking in... WM's are a joke... yes they go thru bootcamp with Marine knowledge but the standards are laughable.....

The dead hang pull up is hard for many men... i could only knockout 3 or 4 prior to bootcamp... i came out of bootcamp doing 13-15 easy....

Depending on whose monitoring it ,you can do 20 and only 14 will count... lol

Womenmarines had to hang for about 60 secondswith their chins above the bar which was easy but not as easy as it sounds....

Most women marines are soft and love the D.... only the butches wanted to carry the 50 cal...

Either way women will be abused as soon as they go into grunt units... 1st CEB/5th Marines checking in...

LOL a country that wins with cowardly acts like dropping bombs and using drones is complaining about women not being able to pull them out of a ditch? >D

waitwut.....

first you endorse the Israeli military but then call the US military cowardly?

irony much?

Google Israel + Drones......

Google Israel + Cluster bombs.....

Educate yourself.

I can imagine a conflict where retreat it required:

Dude scales a wall wit his partner behind him. He stops at the top , turns and look down at his partner to help pick her up. She grabs his extended arm and he proceeds to pull her up. He struggles. " Dig deeper!", he yells. "I... I caaannt!"she exclaims. " I cant do pull ups," she wept. "Wha..? Well, why didnt you say that before" he says, as he lets go of her hand and completes a jump to the ground on the other side of the wall.
this reminds me of the scene from This is the End

David Krumholtz: Jay! I can't hold on much longer. You have to reach out and grab me, you hear?

Jay Baruchel: Okay, uh, you take my hand and I'll swing you up!

David Krumholtz: You sure? I'm going to give you my whole weight.

Jay Baruchel: I'm gonna reach for you alright?

David Krumholtz: Are you sure you can do it?

Jay Baruchel: I can grab you. On three. One, two, three!

[They grab hands]

David Krumholtz: I'm gonna swing across!

Jay Baruchel: I got you buddy.

David Krumholtz: You're going to hold my weight, all of it.

Jay Baruchel: Okay! Come on!

David Krumholtz: You can hold on to my full weight?

Jay Baruchel: I can do it!

David Krumholtz: I don't want to die.

Jay Baruchel: One, two, three!

[Jay lets go and David falls to his death]

My mom was in the military...she was in a support position for most of her career but then she served in Iraq for 15months. While over there her base got attacked, her female soldiers were shooting, protecting and treating each other just like the men.

Long story short, so long as you can carry another soldier you're good. It's very rare in combat that you stop and do three pull ups. I'm all for women in the military and so long as they can do the job they are good in my book.

Sexism is funny, but it's only a joke, results matter, I don't care if the dude next to me is brolic, if he has a mental breakdown in the field when it matters send him home, I'm taking whatever soldier can get the job done.

valid sentiment.

if a female has trouble carrying her own bodyweight then she'd be hard-pressed to bear the body weight of a much larger male + gear in a rescue capacity.

which ties into the reason why no women are in actual combat roles, but rather in support, specialized roles.

Do I think women have a role in our military? Yes. Women in specialized capacities i.e. espionage, medical, technical, have their use. But I cringe when I see a woman get a medal like the Bronze Star when they clearly never saw actual combat.

Your personal objections to their practices as a military force have nothing to do with their strength and skill as soldiers.

Sorry.

:lol Okay.

Please tell me more about their strength and skill as soldiers, I'll wait.

You're the one who made the claim that they're weak. The burden of proof is on you.

If questionable practices make a military weak, there are no strong militaries.

Pullups/chinups are on of the easiest exercises for women to advance in once BW is not an issue. Dudes in here acting like this is a "checkmate" moment to prove women and inferior or shouldn't be in the military :{
