I've been thru one western digital and one HP external drive...both didn't to seem to last more than a year

the HP one got a virus and the Western Digital one just crash out of no where and doesn't get recognized when plugged to a computer. Does anyone have a suggestion on what I should cop next for an external hard drive?(as far as brand, durability/reliability wise)  really trying to find something that is worth paying for, but I do know these things suck in general to rely on keeping all your info on but I suppose I have to keep copping backups...

All hard drives fail, it's just a matter of when.

That being said, I've had my Western Digital for close to 4 years now.

Seagate is also another reputable brand.

I know that some years ago, there were a lot of issues with hard drive failing. In many cases it was because of the way the companies people were buying them from were shipping them.

Ive never had problems with any company's hard drives. My external WD MyBook is going strong now for 5 years. This includes dropping it twice.

I got a seagate 250gb back in 08', still going strong, need to replace it since they usually last ~5 years.
