Mr. Robot: Wednesdays at 10 PM on USA

So I'm late to the party. Just start binge watching this Weeknd. Im on season 2 just finish episode 4 (need 3 more to go to catch up).

Thought the first season was pretty good. The first 8 episodes I really enjoyed. The BIG SURPRISE at the end of episode 8 was a shocker however since then I haven't enjoyed it as much. The "what's real/fake" ish isn't cutting it for me. The finale of season 1 was just "okay". So far season 2 has been SUPER MEH so far, hope it picks up.

elliot dies.

not srs. the next few episodes are great.

Leon was definitely an inmate.

Too out there that he snuck in a tri-state jail/prison, chilled for months, killed some inmates, then snuck out.

If he wasn't real why mention White Rose at all?

Seinfeld was just conversation talk :lol Why it gotta be any deeper than that? Leon should've talked more about independent George and worlds colliding though :rollin

Yea that whole scene proved he was real.

No way the Nazi ****** mention him before they try to rape Elliott/he shows of his skillset if he wasn't.

The series has showed us already that Whiterose got hands everywhere, there's nothing that isn't covered in the time of a day.

I also really don't understand folks who aren't feeling Season 2 that liked Season 1.

The acting/writing/direction is all much improved in my opinion.

It would've been inauthentic for anything to be going any other way than it is with the world Esmail set in S1.

What I've always loved about the show is that even though Elliot and his mental sickness/gift is almost a superhero, everything is still very grounded in reality.

With everything that happened in S1, there is no way Elliot could just go back to his apt and try to continue life how he was living.

The prison concept was written so well especially how he used Craig Robinson who was phenomenal as Ray to make a villain who wasn't almost really even a villain.

When Elliot got him knocked I still felt bad for him. That last conversation they had was one of the realest scenes I've seen in a TV show.

He had already inflicted so much harm on Elliot but he also understood what he was struggling with more so than any other person in his life.

It was illustrated the circumstances that lead him there and while what he did was still horrid and disgusting you saw that he lived in a constant state of denial.

And the thread of that idea runs through the entire season for every character on the show.

Elliot being the narrator denying his actual surroundings to us.

Darlene denying the actual danger and fear that she feels in the fallout of 5/9.

Angela denying her feelings of inadequacy and drowning them out with the attention of Price/the sense of validation she gets from work. So she turns into a beautiful Tony Robbins type.

Dom denying the fact that she's working from an emotional place and not a logical one even though that is what her job is grounded in. Hence why she's asking her Amazon robot the meaning of life and masturbating on chat sites.

Joanna denying the fact that she knows Tyrell is dead and that she has to move on and learn to actually connect to someone emotionally to deal with the fallout of all that's happened. The douche bartender has literally 0 idea of the type of woman he's dealing with.

Price denying the fact that his postion is slowly becoming irrelevant and that the world he and his partners built is crumbling in front of them.

Whiterose denying herself everyday as her public image and wanting so much to be the person she showed in that moment with Dom.

The show is just genius in how it tackles the whole emotional spectrum, while addressing the problems of 2016 specifically and actually being technologically and logically sound.

There's nothing like it and if you don't see it, then idk what to tell you and it actually just saddens me because I wish you felt the same.

Seeing something this well constructed in an artistic medium is inspiring in a way that you can't put in words.

The seeing people who aren't there is ok but i'm not really into the bigger hallucinations or deception of the audience. He has schizophrenia so that stuff will always be there and he's never on medication. The 90s sitcom episode was greatness though.

I think Ray was some sort of higher level person...assuming that's his office that he brings Elliot to. Plus the fact that he was able to leave Elliot in the basement and get him treatment without being questioned by anyone.

His two boys always had a prison guard feel ala Shawshank.

Definitely don't think Tyrell is dead...which makes me think Mr. Robot is lying to keep him from finding out a secret that could be worse than what he thinks he did to Tyrell.8o

Agreed. I think he's the warden based off of his pull. The fact that he has access to Elliot in a private setting whenever he wants makes me think he's someone with authority and power....over both the guards and prisoners.

Elliot being thrown to the basement has got to be solitary confinement.

Yeah, on one level I can get ppl complaining more about the hallucinations and tricking the audience. They don't like it for the obvious reasons and probably cuz they see no genius in it being done instead of seeing the genius in how it was done. I didn't love it cuz it was so damn predictable.

The rest I'm not sure. Elliot's been breaking the 4th wall since ep 1. Not sure what you could love about S1 that S2 is not providing. To me there was no normal for Elliot once the show started, just a cover life. A lot more happened with him personally than externally dealing with the hack and since he wasn't committed to some psych ward him being arrested and why has to do with a larger part of the plot.

Catching up on the last two episodes.

Great intro with the 90s sitcom, I loved how committed they were to it.

Angela's hack was incredibly well shot and acted. The tension and anticipation was intense.. not to mention I loved Darlene and the other hacker in her ear the whole time.

...

And YESS at the hack still going on in the next episode, I thought they were going to skip over it and just end it on a close call or something or cliffhanger.

Joanna looked damn good screaming covered with the fake blood..

The prison reveal was done well, even though it was already theorized plenty so it wasn't a shock.

Leon is immediately one of my favorite characters. He was already weird and cool enough with his Seinfeld ramblings, but his protection and seemingly sincere friendship and loyalty towards Elliott was pretty awesome to see. I doubt he will, but I hope he returns.

The Angela storyline fizzled HARD. I loved her gaining power at E Corp. I loved her involvement in the hack and those scenes were tense and awesome. But I'd hope she has an ulterior motive because her decision was so utterly transparent I'm shocked it took her new boss that long to knock her down a peg. I don't think she'd be that short sighted to think they would instantly hand her all of the confidential files on her town's case, but still.. I hope there's more to it, otherwise I'm disappointed in that character turn.

awwsome did summarize that final scene with Ray so well. The show made you feel some sympathy for a man who ran a site full of evil and depraved crimes. His weakness and acceptance of what was happening was done masterfully and Craig Robinson deserves some dramatic roles. He was outstanding as both a villain and a sympathetic character.

Call me crazy, I still don't think Tyrell is dead. I think he's too good of a character and his return could be very interesting and it might be saved for the finale or something.

While I think this season is just as good, if not better, as season 1, I think it suffers slightly from a lack of a driving force in the overall storyline. There's no hack to plan, no challenges to accomplish, no moving towards an end goal, and that might not be as enjoyable on a week to week basis for some viewers. Now, of course, the biggest hack in history inflicting so much financial damage like they did... well naturally there's going to be a fall out and that's what this season is covering. I get it, I like it, but it does feel like there's not as much being built towards. That's why I liked the FBI's investigation and Dom potentially investigating the Chinese hackers and perhaps any involvement with White Rose

Having said that, I trust their vision and process so I'm not complaining. I don't think this show is as transcendent as awwsome does, but I still think it's one of best and clever shows on TV, so they have my faith.

Hopefully with Elliott getting out, we see more progress with what f society's next move, if any, will be. That, along with some sort of White Rose focus and I'll be very happy.

Well put, I could be wrong but I disagree with Tyrell being dead, and Joanna knowining it. I still think he's Elliott, Elliott is him, or he is Mr. Robot in some form. Esmail already knew where he was going this season 2 years ago, remember this show was renewed for season 2 before season 1 started. That's why it's come together incredibly, and had so much detail.

So you think elliot is married to Joanna bae? That's not a couple that I see would work and get married.

Okay after seeing the reveal after episode 7 was INSANE!!! I wasn't in this thread to read about the theories people had, that completely caught me off guard!! CRAZY!

So you think elliot is married to Joanna bae? That's not a couple that I see would work and get married.

You're right about it being a strange couple, but with all the hallucinations and such maybe Joanna doesn't look like Joanna or something even stranger ( and it does appear she is attempting to protect him for some odd reason) Remember he forgot Darlene was his sister, so it's possible. If not my theory probably wouldn't work unless Tyrell is Elliot. Although I still don't think Tyrrell is dead, or gone.

My two cents: Tyrell and Elliott are two completely separate characters, and Elliott and Joanna are not married/romantically involved.

I don't know what happened to Tyrell but there were too many things in season 1 that suggest they are completely different people, not like Elliott and Mr. Robot.

Elliot can't be Tyrell.

Tyrell is now wanted for the hack and murder. His face is all over the news. Elliot was in prison/jail and nobody realized he's Tyrell?

Even Fsociety talked about Tyrell as being a different person than Elliot since he brought up knowing him. The steel mountain scenes with the 2 would make no sense if they're the same person.

Elliot already met Joanna in person and she didn't recognize him. Was that all some sort of play along with my illness scene?

The only way Tyrell could be Elliot now is if Tyrell is dead and killing him was so traumatic that Elliot took on a 3rd personality that is Tyrell which I kinda doubt. Were also not gonna discover Tyrell was secretly Elliot's brother all this time and he blocked that out like with Darlene.

He's either dead and Mr. Robot made Elliot think he was alive with that phone call so he'd stop asking questions or he's not dead and they formed an even more devious plan that will be revealed or Tyrell survived the shooting somehow and is plotting.

If Tyrell is really dead to me it would be so much easier to show us the scene. Just show Elliot those memories. That should be possible. Instead we get a liar telling a story. I believe Mr. Robot would lie about killing Tyrell more than he actually is a murderer now. Probably gonna say he "figuratively" killed Tyrell when it's revealed.

I mean if he killed them there he's have to be on his Dexter clean up the crime scene skills so there'd be no trace Anne I don't believe he has those skills cuz if not Dom and the FBI would've found evidence of blood or brain matter or something.

Yea, there's no way they are the same person hallucinations or not.

I mean do y'all not see how Joanna is being portrayed in the media and all the actual pictures of her and Tyrell?

Maybe the fact that Tyrell was an executive at E Corp and Elliot was working at All Safe, it's not even anything to suggest that it could even be possible.

Something will definitely happen between Elliot and Joanna though, remember she said that she would kill him if anything happened to Tyrell.

this goes for anyone...

if you are interested in post episode discussion you can check out the mrrobot subreddit. Its a cool and big enough community to exchange ideas.

https://www.reddit.com/r/MrRobot/wiki/index

take a look on the right side of this age and click on the 'post' link of the episode youre on.

the whole subreddit is available from https://www.reddit.com/r/MrRobot but i did not want to risk any spoilers that can show up on the main page.

this also goes for any show you can think of that is worth it imo.

even stuff like stranger things that has all the episodes out all at once, they still have specific posts for each episodes and they usually take spoilers seriously so you shouldnt be too worried if you keep yourself in the right places.

^ tnx, ill read the reddits when i have time

last night after i did a quick google on ep7 reviews, i was surprised some journos hate the reveal, to each their own i guess

I know people loved nathan from Miisifts more because he was one of the originals but Rudy might be the funniest tv character i've ever watched. Dude was a fool times a million. Seems like joseph gilgun is even crazier in real life. Last season of Misfits some of the most ridiculous tv i've ever watched.
