MVP Curse continues [ Reg. Season MVP = No Championship]

many winners of the mvp award carried too much load for their teams. it's hard to win on a 1 on 5 game.

in 03, 00, 98, 96, 94, 92, 91, and regularly going back through history, regular season mvp's win titles. from 72-79, an 8 year drought, the regular season mvp did not win the title, but in 80 kareem did it, you can see the data here
http://proft.50megs.com/nbachamps.html
doing a quick count, the regular season mvp wins just under 50% of the time. Things are a little different now because there are more teams, talent is more diffuse, and if you're the obvious lone star on the team it's harder to win, but it's disingenuous to call it a curse. it's more like a reach

i thought this thread was going to be about baseball...
You can only go so far with one great hitter in baseball, though. You need a well rounded team.
