I always see NTers saying their prayers go out to whom ever is experiencing a tragic situation.
But my question is, what prayers? Do you actually get on your knees and pray? And what do you pray about?
Ive seen peoples say their prayers go out to someone who is already dead

...
I mean, what do you expect your "prayers" to do to someone who lost a love one, a dead person or someone is a life and death situation.
Do you really think GOD is gonna change the fate he's already set for the individual(s)?
or is it just the "in" thing to do to fill your own self gratification? To make yourself seem as if your a better person?

I never understood it either and whenever people say, "I will pray for ____ (random NTer's) _____ (family member)" I don't believe they do it. They might say it but I bet they don't pray RIGHT at that moment. And when they do pray (end of day probably) I am sure they won't remember to pray for that nt'ers family member. It is just something nice to say to make others feel better.

Whatever, it's a nice notion. It doesn't matter that it is ineffective. When someone tells you they are praying for you, regardless of your opinions on prayer, it's nice. They are trying to be nice. I mean unless they are saying they are praying for you because you are such a dastardly sinner.

btw... on the rare occasion that I go to church...eg. Xmas and Easter...when they have a moment of silence for personal prayers... The only thing I "pray" for is to lift up other people's prayers up so they can be heard.

I've never mentioned it to anyone (well until now) so it can't be making myself seem like a better person...nor does it really do anything for my own gratification.

it's just a nice thing to do...as people have said.

Not religious at all but whenever I say it, I mean it.
I've prayed for a number of NTers.

Then doesnt that go against the principles of the bible (if your Christian). Your basically lying, saying you'll do something of such importance in Christianity and end up not doing it. Yea its "nice", but why sin just to make another person feel a lil better in that moment and time?
