This reminds me of when Garrett Anderson won the homerun derby years ago. Nothing deep to excite the fans, just barely getting it over the fence to keep advancing. Same thing with Obi, a bunch of safe throw ins and nothing to excite the fans.

The reality is you just can't win with the dunk contest.
1. We have no more dunks left.
All the doable dunks have been done,
So the only way to do something new and exciting
is to try extremely high degree of difficulty dunks.
Which have a lower success rate which leads to a more dead crowd.
2. Youtube Dunkers have raised peoples expectations unreasonably high.
Youtube Dunkers can try 250 different times,
to do high degree of difficulty dunks
and we never have to sit through the boring attempts.
Now people expect similar dunks from NBA players In a contest format where they have a restless crowd
And 3 tries.
3. Social Media has discouraged stars from participating.
If you have anything to lose there is no point in being in the dunk contest.
Unless you do super human dunks that have never been seen before
like Aaron gordon and Zach Lavine,
People will clown you,
it would be better to have less difficult dunks but NBA players we care more about.
But if you're some one like Zion, there is literally no point.
90% chance you get clowned unless you do some super human spiderman ****.
The reality is the dunk contest will suck 95% of the time.
It's set up that way.
