1 on 1 in their primes Ray would cook steph. Has the same ability as shooters, but Ray would physically punish Steph. Ray was a better defender and rebounder.
You probably were born in 1995. Ray is one of my favorite players of all time but he was a bad defender in his prime, worse than Steph. A great player but never close to a two time MVP, terrible take.

Ray Allen is better than Steph is a hot take, but people do forget just how good Ray Allen was because they only remember his later Celtic/Heat years not when he was with the Bucks. Even that should be applauded how he extended his career while still being effective.
His best years were on Seattle.

Age based perception.

If you are above 32, you remember that Ray. The younger folks might not have known that Ray. Understanable.

Hypothetical, but I always wonder how certain players would be had they been born in a different era.

Had Ray Allen been born in 1999, how would he be as a player

I guess my question is when can a star player leave his current team and it NOT be considered "quitting."

Or if a star player voluntarily leaves, it is automatically quitting?

Keep it to Free Agency.

1. When you've already won a title for the team you play for
2. When you're no longer in your athletic prime
3. When the team you're leaving is not considered to be a title contender

Chris Bosh leaving Toronto is not considered quitting
Amare leaving Phoenix is not considered quitting
Ron Artest leaving the Rockets for the Lakers is not considered quitting
Baron Davis leaving the Warriors for the Clippers is not considered quitting

I'm 36 . Seen all of rays career. he was a really good player but never reached the peaks curry has.
It's a wade vs Pierce type debate. Which isn't a serious debate at all. Even tho both hall of fame material. One is clearly superior

You want to take era into account.
Ray shot less percentage wise on less volume.
Curry shoots better on way more volume which is more impressive .

Ray ain't better than Steph but people don't know or forgot how great he was in Milwaukee and Seattle. He was probably the first 3pt sniper that was also a great scorer.

Yeah probably he would have been valued even more than he was.

That is true that his greatness before the Celtics is forgotten.

You follow Nate Jones on twitter?

I don't, but I saw the tweet pop up on the TL and it got me thinking of how effective the long ball is for guards today. Think it's only going to become more of a thing moving forward. It's such an indefensible shot. Look at how Eric Gordon is bending GSW because he's spotting up 30 ft out.

Ray ain't Steph. Not close.

But Seattle Ray was one of my favorite players in the league. I made my AIM name back in the day after him :lol :lol

One of my favorite games of all time right here

Poor steph
Dude can't catch a break.
When KD leaves and the dubs become nothing again, ESPN gonna be like
"You may remember Curry as part of the Warriors championship run when Durant was on the team. He was also on the previous Championship team which saw Andre Iguodala become the first player in NBA history to get a FMVP without ever starting for the team"

Crazy
winning a chip then losing one after going 73-9
Instead of coming back strong on an ACTUAL revenge tour, them Dubs recruited the biggest mooch/parasite who left a triple double machine to build HIS legacy, only to use them up and then bounce somewhere else. Rings AND FMVPs intact

I don't know who hoodwinked who more
Dubs for getting Durant and still winning
or
Durant who not only joined the team that beat him, but randomly threw a wrench in the legacies of their homegrown draft picks, they coulda/shoulda been more than they are now, and they won't
damn shame
All people arguing over is if he's hurt or not or who's better than him, and since none of those folks played with a powerhouse like Durant, he loses everytime.

Team won't know how to function without Durant, and whoever else leaves

Ray ain't Steph. Not close.

He and Brent Barry was one of my favorite backcourts ever.

Those late night SEA games were fun as hell.

Them and their unique camera angle from Key Arena.

That city needs a squad
