NBC's Community Thread - 6/2 - Ep. 13: "Emotional Consequences of Broadcast Television"

It was only ep 4 and it's been said he's there for 5. So the next ep could be his official send off or somehow he can show up in a later either on the boat sailing around the world :lol or after a time skip.

When he asked Chang the fap questions I almost pissed myself.

And the way Pierce died :rollin

You're right, it is five episodes... I thought it was four :lol Which made this feel really abrupt. So next week we should get our real goodbye and I'm sure it'll be awesome.

I agree with him. You gotta understand how ****** up the Community situation was. He could've just dipped when Harmon was put out and technically compared to everybody else in that cast he has the most going for him (unless Alison's career just takes off).

No reason for him to get pigeon holed in to the guy from Community or Troy everywhere he goes. Let that time in his life just be another quality gig on his resume.

Also, I'm not sure when's the last time I saw him in anything Community-related. From cons to cast interviews and so on.
Dude said that the show came first when the whole mishap was goin down and that was when we first heard about his TV show. I'm pretty sure it's hard to pigeon-hole Glover considering I almost always call him Gambino, how am I gonna call him Troy goin to his rap concert, you're not making sense on that point. It just made more sense to the finish the season so Harmon could have wrote a better cast-off.

Troy and Abed are in mourning. :lol

I don't know, I thought Troy and Abed would be huge Liam Neeson fans.

Another great episode.

Great episode, but not going to be the same without Troy now. Troy and Abed were my favorite characters on the show, now Abed isn't going to be the same without him. I am sad :(

On another note, looking forward to whatever Donald is working on with FX

I mean pigeon hold him as an actor but hey you're doing it too by only viewing him as a rapper.

As for what he said, things change. I'm sure at the time the show was very important to him but eventually he'll realize what little say or pull he has and all that's left is his commitment which could be better applied to endeavors he can be in control of.

And again Troy still has one more ep to appear in so I'm not sure what "cast-off" you think has happened yet.

Dude do you even know what pigeon-holed means? I've watched both his stand-ups, skits on Youtube, his movie, think his writing is sometimes overrated but mess with it, and listen to his music. Just becuase his rap name is better than his government name doesn't mean I'm pigeon-holing buddy.

Things change but Community been a question mark since Season 3, commitment better being applied else-where is a matter of opinion. His show is far far away from and the only thing we can rly judge from him is Clapping for the Wrong Reasons and Chicken and Futility, how does that sound to you?

The "cast-off" lol (just realized what I did), is dude sailing across the world for 14 million like he just won a game show, it's not a bad "cast-off" but if we had a whole season we would have had better.

2. A specific, often oversimplified category.
3. The small hole or holes in a pigeon loft for nesting.

1. To place or file in a small compartment or recess.
2. To classify mentally; categorize.
3. To put aside and ignore; shelve.
4. This term describes the act of having heterosexual or homosexual intercourse with someone, then defecating on the windshield of their car before you leave.

Okay now we all know what it means.

You just said you always call him Gambino though :lol in response to what I said about him being pigeon-holed as one thing and now you're saying you call him that cuz one name is better than his real one. What the **** was the point of even bringing any of that up? :lol **** is irrelevant.

As far as I remember talks about his show started before Harmon was announced back. As far as working in entertainment for tv, I'm sure he's doing more than just his show that's been talked about. The stuff you just mentioned is more of a connecting of his on screen work and music career. His show was just the main thing to reference to talk about the opportunities he's had and will have when he's available and wants to do it instead of being committed to a show the network doesn't really want around. After a while it's time to move on. Simple as that. Community isn't some hit show he's bailing on to do indy work.

How he's written out of the show is a matter of opinion. I got a laugh off of what Troy really wants, "millions of dollars". Maybe you didn't or maybe you think it could be better, w/e. As great as this season has started so far the whole thing is bittersweet. So you might think there'll be better conclusions for the other characters but imo things were ****** up the second Chevy dipped. So for me it's not a big deal that he won't be in every ep for this season. Hurts a bit of the Abed dynamic but maybe now he can be used in a bit more creative ways like the dinner with Andre ep. Either way I don't see this show being canceled and ending up on netflix

Be happy with syndication.

You said I pigeon-holed him as a rapper based off of using his name, I told you how that's not even possible becuase dude is well-known and works in other mediums. You gon make sure you call Jay-Z Shawn if you ever saw him, certain names stick to certain people.

Everytime dude talks about leaving Community he plugs his show and dude has been doing movie and show appearances while doing Community, dude said he wanna be his own boss and make it work on his own well the titles are the only pieces fam did by hisself.

Bruh Chevy been on and off since Season 3, love dude on it but dude wasn't vital to the nucleus and didn't have a relationship with anybody that well .

Jay-Z built the brand Jay-Z not Shawn Carter and he's used the name in one field to branch out to other mediums and fields. He wasn't a rapper, actor, writer, director, etc. all at the same time and got famous in each avenue. Terrible example.

Everytime dude talks about leaving Community he plugs his show and dude has been doing movie and show appearances while doing Community, dude said he wanna be his own boss and make it work on his own well the titles are the only pieces fam did by hisself.
Doing something with help and being your own boss are not mutually exclusive. You talking like it's been 10 years and this is all he's done. I mean lets be real he didn't even get in to entertainment on his own, son constantly praises Tina Fey for how he got started. Making it work on your own doesn't literally mean doing everything by yourself and if you actually expect that and believe that's how he meant it well obviously your gonna have to wait to see the results of that cuz that path takes much longer.

I don't see a reason why he should be compelled to stay the full season if he wants to do other things. The way I see it it's cuz he was dedicated to the show that even showed up for 5 seasons. He could've just opted out in that period when nobody knew what the **** was going on with the show and if it'd even get a S6.

I think you know not being in every ep is different from not being in any eps at all.

Was this really Troy's final episode?? I thought there would be one more episode with him.

Greenblatt replied, “Parks and Rec and Community are great shows. They’re shows I know a lot of people in this room like. We do too. We’ll have to look at how much comedy will be on the schedule in the fall and where it will land but I think both those shows are strong possibilities for returning.” -NBC chairman Robert Greenblatt

The fact that they renewed Parks is a good sign for Community I think.

They tried going broad with all those new comedies and it didn't work. It won't cost a lot to renew these beloved, critically acclaimed comedies for another season.

Parks and rec has been shockingly whack for a lot of the season. I trust Harmon more, but sometimes enough is enough

Some things need a deadline and a chance to go out gloriously instead of dragging on. Community is def one of those.

So am I but the characters are already becoming cartoons. The Jerry stuff is beyond OD at this point too. It's still good but it's on the downside.

ron is a little OD these days too. dwight from the office is a good example of believable ridiculousness

I think you know not being in every ep is different from not being in any eps at all.
There is a difference but after the altercation with the script, he played a lesser role than Troy (who was bangin Britta and living with Abed & Anne at the time)

Donald Glover is building Childish Gambino as a brand too but when he does interviews (under that rap name) he always talks about Community and all his other endeavors, just like when he does interviews as Donald Glover he still mentions albums. Consider "Clapping for the Wrong Reasons", if you google it some sites say Donald Glover made it some say Childish Gambino made it.
