I think all this 'hyper' stuff, although i'ts marketed as innovative, lightweight, and high tech, is actually designed with the single purpose of being extremely cheap to produce. It just so happens that lighter weight usually means less material so they can sell it as performance when really they're just cutting corners. These are literally socks with soles, and for $140? Even if it does perform well I don't see how they can justify that price point.

Trash right along with the Kobe 9. There's absolutely no design on this shoe, Nike Basketball isn't even trying these days.
Sure. They're doing a great job with pushing the envelope with "tech" along with all the other gimmicks they sell these days.
So what, to you, is't a "gimmick" then? Shank plates? Air? Outriggers? Fuse? Maybe fuse comes across as a scam because it's definitely saving Nike money, but I'll be damned if it doesn't make for a fine, durable upper.
I said XX8, not 23.
What's so great about soldiers that you like? They're very stiff overall in comparison to most other shoes.
