New Westbrook signature shoe? (Pic)

Being an ******* or the way he is probably also fuels Russ, because it's part of his personality. Maybe it's hard for him to turn it off so easily after a game. Russ being mean to reporters shouldn't matter if you aren't a reporter, why should you care?

There's athletes with problematic political views or who have been in trouble with the law. Being mean to reporters should be on the bottom of the totem pole of canceling a player. We're going to stop buying someones kicks next for committing adultery next? I guess everyone has their personal standards and that bar, but being mean to reporters isn't high on mine.

What should matter is him declining as a player, at least with his shooting and continued poor shot selection.

at least he wasn't rubbing his junk while pinning them down...

or think the earth is flat...

next question

Agree - I never form an opinion on someone until I deal with them personally. Unfortunately, I did. His shoes are nice on court though.

Are people gonna stop buying Westbrook’s shoes because they’re siding with that stupid reporter?

I doubt anyone would let this situation effect what shoes they buy, but the way you posed the question, I would guess that you aren't really tuned in to the full extent of the situation. This is not something that just happened during the playoffs, or after a loss. This has been festering for several years, and for some reason...just now being brought to light to the national media. "Stupid Reporter?" Hes one of the most well respected journalists in Oklahoma City. He is an older guy, that no matter what the situation always asks the most detailed questions, and always asks in a very polite manor. Hes not one, to ask controversial questions, or even bring attention to himself in any way. That's why this has become such a huge deal nationally. For several years now, he has been **** on by Russell Westbrook. But every game, it is his job to ask these questions, in press conferences, as he is the beat writer for the newspaper that officially covers the OKC Thunder. That's his job, and he does is very well, and in a humbling manor. everything that comes out of his mouth, is done so in a very polite manor. That's why it has become such a big story, because even after 3 years of being **** on by RW...he continues to not be scared to ask questions. RW, finally this season, just started telling him "next question." So, it has now come to light.

I will admit, I'm the biggest Westbrook fan boy there is, and have been since day 1. But, I can tell you for a fact that OKC fans, management, and team owners are finally done with his ********. He has been, and always will be a comeplete dickbag person off the court. He's a literal piece of **** to almost everyone when in a public setting, or not on camera. But this season especially, His antics on the court as well have also become more and more demonstrative. So, yes...it would be silly fore people to not "buy" his shoes, because of his interaction with media, but his entire attitude and personality is going to push the limits for a lot of people. As, he is now 30 years old, and his on court game starts to decline, if he continues down the destructive path that hes on, its not out of the realm of Nike possibly taking away his flagship shoe deal away.

nah, russy signed a 10yr deal about 2 years ago so he's going nowhere

There’s a detailed Brian Curtis article from grant land from several years ago that goes into deep detail about how the OKC PR people and management enabled Russ’ behavior.

http://grantland.com/the-triangle/n...in-durant-oklahoma-city-thunder-sports-media/

You should probably check it out before saying some ill -informed stupid stuff like you just said.

Now it’s totallt up to you if you want to read that or not, but if you’re not gonna read it and give yourself some context, it’s probably best for you to be quiet about it.

The stupid reporter also published a column that kind of unintentionally revealed that in this specific instance he is in fact the problem and not Russ.

Russ’ former coach Scott Brooks even vouched for Russ as a person on and off the court.

Your comments on this are laughable and you’re not viewing the situation objectively at all.

Dealing with someone once or many times? I think there is a difference because maybe you caught them on the wrong day or whatever. I say that about anybody too not just famous people because most people are pretty chill ime.

i also think with the social media presence these days, a lot more people are less sociable in person

i've met so many people who just do not know how to communicate face to face

i was seeing this chick a couple of years back who wouldn't shut up on the phone or texting but in person she was just the most boring person ever and had no idea how to start a conversation

i am not saying russ is like that, i never met the dude but that is becoming more and more common

Agreed.

For the record I couldn't care less about the reporter thing. My apprehension about buying his kicks are tied solely to getting made look like a punk on the floor.

I get you.

I wasn’t the one asking the age of people whose decisions are altered due to stuff like that.

That was somebody else. I was genuinely just curious because a specific group of folks is making a bigger deal about Westbrook than it actually is.

There was one reporter on twitter yesterday presenting her negative interaction with Russ as a #metoo moment... when all he did was just not acknowledge her presence.

It’s gotten out of hand and few people want to accept that Russ is allowed to do this.

True, in every day situations I do tend to give more chances, especially if I know I will see them again and again. My main problem with him was this was supposed to be a PR thing, invite only, and he couldn’t put a happy face on for just thirty minutes.

I’m sure the social media/hangers-on aspect had some influence on is attitude, but I think I’ve seen enough to make a judgment that he just is not a generally nice guy. Maybe to people he knows, but not in general. But hey, that’s his decision - you do t have to be nice.

Please don’t take this the wrong way but you sound like them cats that say girls should just acknowledge the guy that tells them hello just because it’s only a hello. Maybe it is just a hello but how many times have they had to say hello just to appease someone else’s ego? I mean did he curse you out or did he do you like them reporters lol? I’ve also saw cats give good things on him so I guess it’s what happened in your limited interaction that makes you have your view. I get it but personally try to have folks really know somebody star or not before saying they don’t like them. That’s just me and we are all different.

Thanks for you reply.

Here’s almost word for word how it went. We were at the 2015 All Star in NYC. They had all the Jordan’s in white/silver/chrome, had areas roped off so only invited guests could go certain areas, and had Jordan employees walking with others. I had Matt Fox, Jordan PR, walk with me behind the scenes, into the “celebrity” lounge where Roy Jones, Melo, LaLa, Blake, and others were. No autographs or pictures, just hanging and eating/drinking. Matt says to Russ, who is sitting in the corner by himself, “hey Russ, I wanted you to meet Bryan from Weartesters.” Without missing a beat, I was told “leave me the eff alone and go over there.” So yeah, **** him.

I whole heartedly agree with you. If somebody on here said they won't were his brand because of that personal interaction they had with him then I would understand.

Yeah I can too but I bet Westbrook tired of Matt introducing him to all these cats you know he don’t give a flying flip about. Don’t know for sure on this case but I know for certain that that’s happened with other cats I know that are known and they’ve told me similar things. I can see why dude is like Flip Westbrook though.

I can understand both sides....i can definitely understand Bryans point of view and I can alot understand if u have 100 ppl a day that u get introduced to that u might get tired and might not want to be bothered at that time. I just personally would not use those choice of words if I were in WB shoes, I'm just not that kinda person

I wonder why he was sitting in a corner alone. Maybe he was upset about something? I probably wouldn't take it personally, just my opinion. I also, probably wouldn't buy his shoes after that interaction though either lol.

I like Russ even more now.

Kidding, kidding.

But his other option was to be fake nice with you, which would have been the "professional" thing to do, right?

Personally I don't like when people are fake with me and I think I'm not alone in that sentiment.

However I can completely understand how Russ acting like that could turn someone off to him for life.

Here's some perspective though-

I've had to opportunity to meet Michael Jordan twice in my life.

The first time I was like 6 and he blew me and my dad off. My dad was completely turned off by this interaction and in his mind, it has been "F*** Michael Jordan for life!"

I was 6 and just a little sad.

I got over it and once MJ started doing those flight school camps in Santa Barbara I begged my parents to send me.

For a few years my dad refused to pay, but eventually he gave in and ponied up the $500.

At Jordan camp everyone gets to take a pic with Mike and get one thing signed so I got an authentic Jersey signed and he was really nice to me.

I say all of that to say that sometimes it just depends on when and where and in what circumstance you encounter some of these people.

There are two camps on Russ:

1- A camp that says he's basically an outstanding person and humanitarian who'd give the shirt off of his back

2- A Camp that swears he's the biggest a-hole on earth (People in this camp include large swaths of the media and Utah Jazz fans).

Russ doesn't owe any of us anything and everyone should accept that.

You can't talk to people like that though. I don't care who you are.

If Russ said that to someone in public where I am from he'd get checked real quick.

There's a way you do things. If he did not want to entertain WT, just let them know you're busy.

I like RW from afar. Plays hard, from bench player/defensive specialist at Westwood to the player we see today his journey is inspirational, and he's earned everything he has.
