NEW YORK METS 2016 SEASON THREAD

T Bone needs to start taking reps at first, especially if Plawecki is who Sandy thinks he can be. This way we can keep his bat in the lineup, keep him fresh and platoon Duda.

see how Montero and wheeler come back from their injuries.  as it stands now, it's Degrom Harvey thor matz niese? def have to work in wheeler at some point.  could niese work out of bullpen?  Did really well in the postseason.
I would like to see neise in the bullpen.

Wheeler won't be back before July so Niese will be starting next year and resuming his bullpen role in the playoffs

No. 5: New York Mets
mets.png

The overview
The Mets, as you can see, get a 21 power rank or above in every category except for one: finances. They just don't have the financial backing from ownership that you would expect in the New York market. Nevertheless, they have the best young starting rotation in baseball -- and they're all controllable through at least 2018 -- and should be able to drum up enough position-player talent to field a legit championship contender the next couple of years. -- Jim Bowden

Impact prospect
The Mets traded two of their biggest breakout prospects of 2015 but kept outfielder Wuilmer Becerra, who was part of the never-ending windfall of the R.A. Dickey trade. Becerra has real right-handed power that should profile well in an outfield corner, likely right field thanks to his above-average arm. -- Keith Law

March rank: 7 (overall score: 61.8)

Curtis Granderson underwent surgery today to repair a ligament in his left thumb. The #Mets say he'll be fine by Opening Day.

Grandy hit three home runs with bad thumb in the postseasons. Grandy is becoming one of my all time favorite Mets. A year ago, I strongly disliked him. It was probably because I expected too much from him.

I agree. He definitely won me over during the course of the season.

didn't like the signing, still think he's overpaid and on the hook for 1 year too many, but he earned my respect and appreciation this year.

Sources: The #Rockies have discussed internally the possibility of signing free agent Daniel Murphy to play first base.

I gotta see where their draft pick would be but that could be a clutch landing spot if it's around 16.

We'd get a sandwich round pick for Murph from the Rockies. Eh I'll take it, hopefully the Mets show a willingness to go over slot for someone in that case similar to what the Astros did this year with Daz Cameron.

:rolleyes

With Wright missing games this coming season ( you know he will) and Duda possibly getting injured again, Im a bit hesitant to get rid of Murphy.

I would like to re-sign Kelly Johnson and Juan Uribe for one more year.

Flores has strong arm. He might play at 3B sometime next season. His defense improved much since April. He got rid of his bad habit in tapping the ball into his glove.

Mets GM Sandy Alderson named MLB's top executive by Baseball America http://es.pn/1TrbQxH #NYM #Mets

Congratulations. Well deserved, Alderson.

Eh

I mean

He put together a minor league roster for 4 months

But he did put together a World Series team the final 3 months

Least he fixed his mistakes

I am just glad that Mets get more recognized. Hopefully it will attract good free agents. Who knows? :lol
