New York Yankees Official Thread - RIP Former Manager Petey Rose

I think he went to his binders a little more than he needed too but I did like Girardi as well.

Supposedly the guys on the Yanks hated Girardi and his way of managing. They said it was too old school. Doubt he'd be back, wouldn't mind it tho. Thats probably why he's working on YES, waiting in the weeds ...

Dodger players talking mad ****. You’d think we were the Giants or Padres. **** is corny as hell. A loss like this definitely hurts but this team will comeback stronger next year if we resign Soto and grab a starting pitcher and a better bat or two.

let's give the Pirates a 2% share in revenue, their pick of anyone in our minor league system and broadcast their games on YES for Skenes

problems solved ....

The biggest thing is resigning soto... then you have to make a decision on resigning gleyber and if you don't then move jazz to second... just not sure who you put at third... but definitely not interested in bringing back verdugo, rizzo and dj...stroman wasn't that bad but if they go after another starter they don't need stro....could always put ben at first and let him develop... then bring the martian up to replace verdugo...definitely need a closer... luke is good but more of a setup guy.... we are not that far off... the bats just need to come alive in the post season and stop making dumb errors... we lost the series but games 1 and 5 were very winnable games

You can't really let Gleyber walk just to re-sign Soto.

Obviously, if the choice was one or the other you sign Soto.

But creating a hole that they can't fix while re-signing a guy is not how the Dodgers do things.

And yes, Yankees should do everything the way that the Dodgers do it.

Look at what the Dodgers did from 2023-2024
C - Will Smith - Will Smith
1B - Freddie Freeman - Freddie Freeman
2B - Miguel Vargas - Gavin Lux (Lux was injured in 2023)
3B - Max Muncy - Max Muncy
SS - Miguel Rojas - Miguel Rojas
LF - David Peralta - Teoscar Hernandez
CF - James Outman - Andy Pages
RF - Mookie Betts - Mookie Betts
DH - JD Martinez - Shoehei Ohtani

(Vargas traded for Kopech)
(Peralta left in FA)
(Outman got injured)

Basically if they let someone go, they replaced them with someone else who was better.

Yankees equivalent
C - Austin Wells - Austin Wells
1B - Anthony Rizzo - ??????
2B - Gleyber Torres - Gleyber Torres
3B - Jazz Chisholm - Jazz Chisholm
SS - Anthony Volpe - Anthony Volpe
LF - Alex Verdugo - ?????
CF- Aaron Judge - Aaron Judge
RF - Juan Soto - Juan Soto
DH - Giancarlo Stanton - Giancarlo Stanton

Replace 1B & LF or CF if one of Judge / Soto goes to LF. If you want to let Gleyber walk, you need 1/3 of your lineup to be replaced, and if they sign Soto and let Gleyber walk, guaranteed they won't go into FA pool for a Gleyber upgrade

I'm still trading some guys (Martian excluded) for Vladdy. That's the type of move that the Dodgers went with.

They technically replaced Vargas with a prospect. The Yankees could potentially do that with Vivas or Durbin who’re at AAA that are projected 2025 call ups. Durbin was just the Fall player of the week in the Fall league.

Im cool if we get vlad at first.. he just has to shave his face in order to play here

I don’t know. He was good in spurts. Post season he struggled. If it’s a deal trusting his, that’s a pretty big problem to have.

Jordan Montgomery has a rough year after signing late, which seems pretty common. Zona's owner called him a huge mistake but Montgomery exercised his $22m player option the next day lol. Gotta think we could get him for a bag of baseballs at this point. Last year of deal, I'd gladly take him.

Ain't blaming them :lol

Guess dk who that was directed towards tho lol

I would 100x over take Gerrit Cole as a contractor

Montgomery for DJ. We trade mistakes.

Was this about my post? I was saying I don't blame Cole for doing it bc they Yankees have no option but to add the year and keep him. No chance they let him walk.

Yeah Cole will be back.
My guess is unless Rizzo goes to the Cubs to close it out, he'll be back at $1-2mil on top of the buyout.

Dribbler to first aside did have a solid playoffs. Just didn't have pop.

Good clubhouse guy. Playoff/World Series experience. A Judge guy. And if we do go out and get a 1B, he's a solid backup to have.

Only as a backup though

Are the Yankees better if they let Soto go and use that $700M on Burnes, Teoscar, and Alonso? The way the Yankee broadcast team feels he’s good as gone, with the way he presented himself with his final interview; could have said I rather not talk about that at this time after we lost the World Series; Broadcast didn’t care if he was coming back

Get a healthy dependable arm in lower his lower 30s (Cole is going to be 35 and in his latter prime), Rodon is not a number 2 starter; fill holes in the OF and at 1st and see what you have with Domingues/Spencer;

No they are worse if Soto leaves.
He’s on pace to be a top 10ish all time hitter.

He’s on pace for
500-600 home runs
2500 - 3000 hits
1800 - 2000 walks

Would join Bonds as the only guy there.
(Ted Williams would have gotten it if not for the war)

Yea you don’t let Soto walk and they have the means to do so. Hal just can’t be cheap. They can still go out and get other players too.
