The Yankees have their fair share of things they need to address.....
SP
1B
OF situation
Bullpen?

Have to make some decisions on several guys....
Abreu - multi year deal or arbitration offer?
Marte - $6 mil?
Pettitte - retire?
Mussina - retire?
Giambi - bring him back?

We can further discuss some of these things within the thread & the direction of what moves we should make...

---CC Sabathia?
---Mark Teixeira?
---AJ Burnett?

I don't really see them trading away any prospects (with the possible exception being trading for Jake Peavy ifthey don't get CC Sabathia) but I do see them spending some $$$, considering 1. missed the playoffs & 2. new stadium

I could see a rotation of...

1. CC Sabathia
2. Wang
3. Joba

combination of 2 of these players for spots #4 & #5....
---Pettitte
---Mussina
---Derek Lowe
---AJ Burnett
---Phil Hughes

the yanks need to let the free agents go and get CC, tex and another pitcher probably burnett but lowe is cool too but he a little old...they definitely needto improve on their starting pitching...so getting 2 starters via free agency is mandatory...

I'm sorry, I don't want Lowe nor Burnett coming to the Yankees. IMO, it's a disappointment waiting to happen. Sabathia would be straight but I hopethe Yankees don't shell out a ridiculous amount of money..more times than not, it usually doesn't work out well for us.

I've always like Peavy and I think he could be excellent but would he really like to be in NY? He's a small town type of dude and is very humble, choosing to take less money than his market value to stay with the Padres. Peavy is a better version of Wang IMO...ground ball pitcher who actually getsstrikeouts. I'd love to trade for him, as long as we don't give up too much.

I'd love to get Moose back. Keep him in the rotation, he's also willing to teach the young guys a couple of things.

If Pettitte wants to come back, that's fine. If his heart isn't into baseball, he should just retire...

I haven't given up on Hughes. I hope he starts out next year healthy and in the rotation.

So I'm looking at:

CC
Wang
Pettitte (and if he retires, go after Peavy

)
Moose
Hughes

Joba goes back to the bullpen and stays there. Kennedy is our 6th starter, as long as he returns to form.

Yes, you do.

But you want CC more.

And K-Rod is a Yankee. Watch.

Hell, you're the Yankees; you'll probably end up with all 3.

farm system. i think they really need to start developing their prospects. can't buy a team. but you can sure develop one. just my opinion

I'm tired of the power hitting Yankees. We can never manufacture runs. We're always looking for a HR to drive in our runs.

Just give me a good defensive 1b and a quick CF with a little pop in his bat.

I'll take K-Rod and C.C., though.

My 2 cents:

- Let go of Marte and make a move to Mike Gonzalez in ATL...looked great coming off that Tommy John surgery and I always thought he was a great pitcher, notjust a lefty specialist.

- Don't give Abreu a multi-year deal.

- I'd say let both Andy and Moose go...or let them come back with SIGNIFICANT pay-cuts.

- No to Giambi.

- I can't stress this enough but bringing in CC will be a HUGE mistake...so many innings on his arm already (just look at the last two seasons) and hedoes not show up in big games. Not saying that Burnett will but I'd rather take my chances on him...and we already know Lowe knows how to pitch in biggames and has more experience in big games (but he will more than likely ask for more money than he deserves and if they win the WS this year forget about it).

- Bring in Tex.

- Don't @%!!$%! trade Cano.

- McClouth sounds like a decent option but I'm wary of him...I'm done w/Melky though.

- The rotation should be Wang, Burnett, Joba, Lowe and Hughes.

- *%#@ K-Rod and *%#@ Manny don't want either of them.

I don't know...I'm pretty sure dudes wants to be a closer. I mean, why wouldn't you after you just broke the record for saves in aseason. I don't see him going to a set-up role to Mo...he'll definitely want to close games.

Yankees could offer more money than anyone else, but he'll probably be set taking $1-3 million less a year to close for another team.

id rather have Lowe and Burnett than CC. CC doesnt wanna play in the AL or in NY. However, if we throw him crazy money, hell be forced to sign. Id love to seeus make a trade for Mclouth or DeJesus. let giambi walk, resign moose, dont bring back pettite. tex isnt worth the money either. As much as i love bobby, idont think well be resigning him either.

i cant see why the yanks would get krod... they already got mo and joba... i dont think joba is starting anytime soon... so ya no need for k-rod... in plus yspend all that money on a relief pitcher its not even that serious... the mets if anybody should get k-rod...

Isn't Joba a starter already? I thought he was a closer, but the problem was that he wanted to be a starter, and now that's what he is.

No?

And Mo? I was operating under the assumption that he's on his way out, and that maybe K-Rod wouldn't mind sometimes setting up for Mo, and sometimesclosing the door without Mo coming in, and sometimes watching Mo close the door without himself coming in.

And while i agree that the last thing the Yankees need is another big bat, I'm confident that Teix will be brought in.

I want Tex but not with some beefcake contract.

He is exactly, EXACTLY what the Giambino wasn't: a switch hitting 1st baseman that has defense!
Let the Giambino do what he wants. Bobbito needs to go, he's been a horrible influence on Melk (

) and Cano. They're always chilling in the dugouttogether and you can tell that none of them give a $!@%.

IPK is NOT a started. Get that bum out of here.

Melky is done with.

Bring in CC or Peavey, or both.

Try to get some left handers in the 'Pen.

Sign Abreu to 2/$20 mil.

Move X to First Base, and then go after an OF.

I have many more, but I'm kind of busy right now. I'll post up some more later.

I honestly don't know what their plan for Joba is next year but I would put him the rotation and go after Mike Gonzalez or even Brian Fuentes to set up.

I don't want K-Rod I think that funky delivery is going to get him hurt one of these days and I think he's a great closer but Mo just signed a deallast summer I believe and he just had one of his better statistical seasons so I don't think K-Rod would want to set-up and occassionally close for 2 or 3seasons.

I like Tex for his defense as much as his offense.

they're called the Bronx Bombers for a reason!!!!
Bring on C.C. and only trade Cano for a Good front end Starting pitcher.....
suspect bout Tex not sure how he can do in a big market...
Hard to develop young talent bc its up to them once they reach the majors all bout if they got that it factor!!!!!

Here is a great blog these guys do for Yankees stuff.

Around the Yankees universe
Posted by Dave & Aziz Nekoukar October 06, 2008 9:43AM

All sorts of news and notes today regarding the Yankees, some fun, and some with a more business-like tone. We'll get right to 'em:

# Jon Heyman reports that the Brewers are considering trying to keep CC Sabathia. In regards to possibly playing for the Yankees, CC offered this response:"I'll play anywhere... I enjoy that city. They've got a brand new stadium. We'll have to see what happens... Coming to a new city showed meit's pretty much the same anywhere." It's the standard response for any potentially big-ticket free agent -- keep the Yankees in play, so you canland the big bucks. But at least he isn't opposed to the idea. (Hat tip: Scott Proctor's Arm)

Should be an interesting offseason. Obviously, first order of business is to go after CC. I would stayaway from Burnett. He's a great pitcher and he kills the Sox (kills the Yankees too), but he's too much of an injury risk. No need for another Carl Pavano. Ilike Tex, he's a switch hitting, gold glover who would be a great addition to the lineup, but it depends on how many years he wants. Abreu puts up numbersconsistently and gets on base a lot, but I hear he wants a three year deal, I'd let him walk. Let Giambi go, looks like Mussina is going to retire andI'm still undecided on what to do with Pettitte. Also, a lot of rumors that Cano could be traded. I guess we'll see what happens.

my plan for the 2009 yanks :

trade with the royals for david dejesus, we can give em phil coke and a couple of minor leaguers . dejesus can hit , he's fast and he led the league in 2out base hits with risp ( something that killed us this year ) and he's a gold glove caliber cf. he's also wayyyyyy better than melky.

sign texeira

this guy is tino martinez 2.0. he's clutch, gold glove defender, switch hitter. i dont know what some of you are thinking not wanting to sign this guy.true the price is high but who's the other choice, millar ? posada ? nady ? lets be real .

DO NOT SIGN CC

yes i said do not. this guy will fold in ny. he's proven he can't do it when it counts. his post season #'s are bad. maybe this year the brewersburned him out down the stretch but when i saw victorino take him deep my mind was made up.

go after jake peavy

dude is a bulldog and i belive he would thrive in ny. he'd be more under the radar than cc. the expectations for cc would be insane and the media would eathim up.

dont sign pettite , try and trade for eric bedard. maybe the yanks can pull off a blockbuster and give the mariners cano, hughes, gardner or prospects forbedard and ichiro . i know that sounds like a fairy tale but ichiro aint happy in seattle and his teammates hate him. if we cant get dejesus ichiro would be anincredible get. i'll wake up now.

my rotation would be :

peavy
wang
joba
bedard
mussina - yes resign moose

outfield

lf - damon, matsui, melky or if we still have gardner - platoon
cf - dejesus or godwilling ichiro
rf - nady

infield

1b - texiera
2b - orlando cabrera
3b - arod
ss - jeter
c - posada

these are my pipedreams .............
