Wish you would show your face around here more. Your takes are insightful and refreshing. Seriously.Originally Posted by djaman
We're after history now. Two more losses will tie the consecutive playoff loss record. Joe Mauer has one playoff RBI and zero playoff wins. I can't pin a loss on him, but it's something to look at and wonder.
To say the Twins aren't affected by their opponent is ludicrous. It's in their eyes, their swings, their pitches, their defense. How many times can you take a lead - only to squander it - and not feel downtrodden by that? It's clockwork to a creepy level. We tie the game up on what easily could have been a galvanizing home run by Hudson. The Yankees DON'T EVEN RECORD AN OUT in the next inning before regaining the lead. It's in their head. It would take eight innings of complete shutdown baseball by a starter and a beyond great offensive night by one guy to overcome that. Two men can completely change the mindset. One pitcher, one hitter. Pitch eight innings of four-hit ball. Hit two home runs, drive in four. Simple.
So why has it taken five years to do that?
