The first one rocked. the second was corny.I'm glad Riddick got its 3rd movie. I was pissed when the 2nd one didn't do as well and we were going to be left hanging.
I actually liked both Riddicks.

I'm starting to feel like Marvel's original plan was to make GotG the big franchise and that the Avengers movie was just a way to sell people on the idea of Marvel being able to do ensemble cast films that break down with individual stories. I'm really looking forward to a trailer.
nobody knows for sure who del toro is playing, there were rumors also that the main villain was going to be Ronan the Accuser for GotG. who knows, I don't think we'll get a teaser trailer for the movie til at least the end of the year, they don't start shooting til the end of the month. Maybe for Thor The Dark World?
I'm thinking as the individual movies got momentum after a while of success Disney was like we want something big and long lasting like Star Wars (while they were probably negotiating to buy SW) and the guy in charge of Marvel studios knew from reading there's a lot to do with Marvel's cosmic/space stories and just took it there but of course this is all pending on Avengers being the success that it was.I'm starting to feel like Marvel's original plan was to make GotG the big franchise and that the Avengers movie was just a way to sell people on the idea of Marvel being able to do ensemble cast films that break down with individual stories. You mean voiced by right? or was that an actual person in mad make-up and not cgi.Thanos was played by Damion Poitier In the Avengers
That Marvel Studios and director James Gunn are collecting quite a cast for Guardians of the Galaxy is clear. But exactly which roles these stars will play has been a bit tougher to suss out.
When Benicio Del Toro was announced for a “lead role” earlier this week, we didn’t even know whether he’d play a hero or a villain. However, one site is now claiming to have confirmed information on Del Toro’s character. And since the actor is signed to appear in multiple Marvel movies, it could have interesting repercussions for the Cinematic Universe as a whole. Hit the jump to find out who he is.
According to a “very reliable source” who spoke with Comic Book Movie, Del Toro will be playing the part of Taneleer Tivan a.k.a. The Collector. The character has been rumored to be making an appearance for some time; initial reports of Ophelia Lovibond‘s casting indicated that she’d play his aide.
In the comics, The Collector is one of the Elders of the Universe. After his daughter leaves and his wife dies, he realizes he needs to find a will to live lest he pass away as well. He has a vision of a powerful being annihilating the universe, and subsequently makes it his vision to collect living beings and artifacts from all over the universe so that he can repopulate the universe after its destruction.
The Collector’s storyline connects him to Thanos, whom we first glimpsed at the end of The Avengers. Joss Whedon and Kevin Feige have previously hinted that Thanos could be the Big Bad of Phase Three, so The Collector could conceivably fit into that larger plot arc. For now, though, we know only that Del Toro’s character is “built to be part of future Marvel films.”
Aside from Del Toro, Guardians of the Galaxy will also feature Lee Pace, Karen Gillan, and Michael Rooker as villains and Glenn Close and John C. Reilly as leaders of the intergalactic space patrol group Nova Corp. Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, and Dave Bautista will play heroes Star-Lord, Gamora, and Drax the Destroyer, respectively. Guardians of the Galaxy opens August 1, 2014.
Because Thanos is well worth the wait (if done right and Whedon can probably do him justice).
I think them going the bond route with iron man will be a disaster. Only the first iron man people actually like. With 2 and 3 being underwhelming.Marvel/Disney plans to milk this franchise for the next 50-100 years if possible, there will be plenty of time for those guys. Remember when they said they want IronMan to be like the James Bond franchise, no need for a reboot but the movies just keep going and going with new actors every few years/decade. It has worked for Marvel before and they won't change their plans now.
Plus they can't rush these characters out just to give the audience what they want to see on the big screen, see Gambit and Deadpool in Wolverine Origins.

besides the first iron man, spider man 1, x-men 1, blade 1, punisher war zone, the rest have been extremely lackluster.
marvel just putting stuff together, tape it, then shove down the throats.
people forget that if you were to boycott the movie, there will be progress and they would actually take into consideration how lame these movies have been
Yeah, when you read the Starlin Thanos stories or even the recent ones it's just a notch above imo, something you have to get right plot and dialogue wise. I'm glad Marvel isn't just trotting him out there to get defeated to move on to villains that pale in comparison or aren't even his equal.Because Thanos is well worth the wait (if done right and Whedon can probably do him justice).
I'd have to respectfully disagree. I think Cap & Thor were very good origin films. It isn't touching IM1 or TDK but it is right there in the middle of where they have to hit to get the character introduced and it worked. IM, Cap and Thor are B-list heroes, maybe even C-list, they aren't touching Spidey, Batman, Hulk or Superman in popularity but now they are right in the mix.
Cap is definitely a B-list hero before the movies, he is a fan favorite but he isn't touching the A-list heroes I listed above. He just isn't as famous as he once was, same with IM. Look outside of the comic book world and you'll see he isn't that top rated hero on the level of Spidey, Bats, Wolvy, etc... I'm a DC fanboy (also a Marvel fanboy but I prefer DC) but I can honestly say GL and Flash isn't on Bats, Supes and WW level when it comes to popularity. A lot have been clamoring for a GL and Flash films but those are mostly from outspoken fanboys, they are cool but the general public really doesn't know much about them, some even see John Stewart as the one true GL instead of Hal.
As for the films, at the end it is subjective but I like Hemsworth as Thor a lot, he is almost perfect even if he isn't clean shaven. Dialogue is also pretty good with a bit of comedy there, which again I like. Same with the Cap film, it's a good origin film. Now that it is out of the way, they can focus more on a better story and more action.
By original Cap you mean the one from the 90's?
