Nah, don't let the Spider-Man like quips and one liners fool you, RDJR is a very good actor and apparently very underrated. I was honestly waiting to see if Marvel would get a little dark and tackle the Demon In the Bottle Tony Stark and quite frankly I'm waiting for RDJR to tackle a role dealing with drug abuse or addiction since that touches on a big part of his personal life. You guys really think RDJ would make a good Batman? He'd be a great Bruce Wayne but a horrid Batman. Just get Josh Brolin and make him the "super detective he is in the comics.
That aside I can definitely see him pull off the brooding, methodical, obsessed Bruce Wayne/Batman (something we haven't seen done with Bats in a movie yet). The Batman as a myth to a degree but that's all from an acting standpoint. Not now since he's too old (not that he'd need to get insane shape to get in one of those suits that have the abs and biceps carved in the design ). Sad thing is say he was cast as Batman w/e director would probably still go for the RDJR in his lighter roles and try to squeeze in some comedy when it really shouldn't be coming from Batman.
Basically you tell RDJR to be really serious and he can do that and do it exceptionally.
On a related note, I think Johnny Depp could've been a great Batman as well but more Frank Miller's TDKR Batman in personality.
