Captain America: The Winter Soldier’s third trailer will reportedly be 11 minutes long and include the film’s prologue.
According to the British Board of Film Classification, the third trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier will have a run time of 11 minutes and 15 seconds. While you may be thinking that’s a mighty long trailer, it could actually be the film’s entire prologue.
A prologue for the film was recently revealed during a screening of Marvel’s latest One-Shot titled All Hail the King. The footage was quite long, estimated at around 10 minutes, but it would be easy to see how the entire prologue for Captain America’s sequel could be over 11 minutes.
In attendance was Marvel’s President Kevin Feige as well as actor Sir Ben Kingsley and the Marvel One-Shot’s writer Drew Pearce. Feige was nice enough to give the audience the 10+ minute preview of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
A description of the footage was recently released and we’ll include the intro below, but realize that it does include some of the sequel’s plot if you’re interested in avoiding small spoilers. Head over to Slash Film if you’re interested in reading the entire description.
“Fade in on a beautiful Washington D.C. morning. A man named Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) is running around the National Mall when another man flies by him at five times his speed. “On your left,” Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) says not one, not twice, but three times as he continues to lap Wilson.”
Will we get a chance to see these 11 minutes of Captain America: The Winter Soldier? Possibly, it’s not uncommon for Marvel to include a lengthy trailer in the theaters in front of one of their films and we could be seeing it online soon as we approach the film’s April release date.
In related news, Captain America 3 was recently confirmed to be in pre-production, with The Winter Soldier directors Anthony and Joe Russo signing on to direct the third film with Chris Evans in the lead role of Steve Rogers.
Marvel President Kevin Feige is normally reluctant to sign directors for Marvel’s sequels prior to a film hitting theaters, but he’s giving Captain America’s sequel a vote of confidence by moving forward with the third film.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier will hit theaters April 4, 2014. The sequel stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Anthony Mackie, Robert Redford, Sebastian Stan, Frank Grillo and Samuel L. Jackson.
