So of all the things in the NFL to fix, they feel like banning a face mask will help? :lol :{

BANE STYLE FACEMASKS BANNED BY THE NFL
1000

“Why aren’t comics fun anymore” is one of the biggest complaints you’ll hear about the current state of the comic industry, with some readers pining for the days when comics weren’t as “dark.” But if you follow the football, you know for a fact that no one, anywhere, hates fun quite like the NFL. Case in point, the NFL — or the No Fun League, if you want to go by its official name — has recently banned players from using facemasks inspired by the mask worn by Bane in The Dark Knight Rises. That, right there, is the very definition of hating fun.

The new season starts tomorrow (well, technically it started Thursday), and you won’t be seeing very many of the types of masks worn last season by players like the Ravens’ Ray Lewis, the Giants’ Justin Tuck and Chris Canty, and the Colts’ Robert Mathis. This preseason Washington’s Brian Orakpo debuted a similar mask, while stating in no uncertain terms that the mask was inspired by Bane’s look in the film. Brian McCarthy, a spokesman for the No Fun League, told NFL.com via email that the masks are ” considered a prohibited non-standard customized face mask,” and therefore cannot be worn unless a player is given medical clearance. Translation: “We hate fun.” Alas.

Brian Orakpo confirms his facemask has been banned by NFL. Says he's working on an appeal.

I really wish the NFL would allow players to customize facemasks as long as they met whatever standard it may be in regards to safety. It would make the image of the sport 5x better. But I don't think they wanna allow anymore reasons for the sport to come off anymore intimidating and brutal than it already is with all these current safety issues.

I thought Tuck had his or medical reasons due to his neck and the facemask not having slots big enough to fit fingers through to pull?

He probably can. The last sentence in the article says:
"Brian McCarthy, a spokesman for the No Fun League, told NFL.com via email that the masks are ” considered a prohibited non-standard customized face mask,” and therefore cannot be worn unless a player is given medical clearance.

I wonder how much a doctor note is going to run guys that really want their custom face masks? lol

I have major concerns about the direction of the NFL and I'm not too happy with its current state either.

The National Football Arena League is in full effect. Only two 100 yard rushers this week, but ten 300 yard passers (11 if you count Sammy's 299) including three 400+ yarders.

1 of the 100 yard rushers a QB. The other a backup. :lol

Almost every snap I see now is shotgun/pistol.

It's just....different. You can't discern between what a great passing day is because guys who would be considered mediocre 10 and 20 years ago are putting up 250-350 yards on the regular. The number of pass attempts seemed extremely high this weekend.

The play overall seemed very sloppy except for a few games.

I also hate the freedom in which referees have in consideration of various rules. Seems like running quarterbacks get less or no calls, pocket passers get the advantage of the ticky tack, yet defined within the rules calls.

Rule changes are being implemented all the time that have added up to start with completely changing what we thought football was supposed to be. I love fantasy football, but I didn't want it to ruin the NFL. I feel like Roger and everyone involved is cashing in on how they have casual fans at their mercy and in order to appeal to the masses, they're "modernizing" how they think the game will appeal to most.

i would assume both?

it just seems pretty illogical for the texans to trade 2 first rounders for a QB on the wrong side of 30. i don't think we even have 2 first rounders to trade lol

To be accurate I believe I asked for a 1 and 2. But my serious offer would be to Minnesota, not TX

ahh, i missed that. even then, i just don't see us making that kind of deal. the texans as an organization are invested in schaub (whether i agree with it or not).
