out of curiosity -- do you equate best pass rusher with the player who has the most sacks at the end of their career ?

Has Aldon Smith registered a sack in a game Justin Smith hasn't played?

Not trying to argue I'm just curious

i dont think so but pretty sure he has registered a sack on a play where justin smith wasnt on the field.

im the last person that will argue that justin smith doesn't have a huge effect on the number of sacks aldon has because he greatly does. i was simply stating what he has accomplished up to this point and why you dont just CUT a player like that. aldon is really young(24) and has a lot of growing to do. dude needs to get his **** straight before he wastes what potentially could be a hall of fame career.

JJ Watt is better. He had more sacks last year, he gets pass defelctions.
Oh yeah and he is one of the nicest guys off the field in the NFL

reggie white had 21 sacks in 12 games in 87..

he averaged more sacks than games played in his time with the eagles.. he set the passes defended by a Dlineman record in '91 (which was just broken by jj watt)

that '91 defense literally carried the team to 10 wins.. because of injuries, the eagles went through 5 different starting QBs (randall cunningham went down week 1).. Philadelphia's defensive finished the season ranked first in the NFL in fewest passing yards, rushing yards, and total yards allowed.. As such, the Eagles became only the fifth club in NFL history and the first since 1975 to accomplish this rare triple.

what dont you get? dude is on pace to be the greatest pass rusher of all time. you dont just release those type of players.

. That's like me saying JJ Watt gets the high number of sacks that he does because Matt Schaub constantly throws interceptions, thus keeping JJ Watt and the defense on the field. 

Also as it stands, nobody is passing Lawrence Taylor as the greatest pass-rusher, probably let alone defender in NFL history.

also, according to footballoutsiders.com (apparently they keep snap counts statistics) and teamrankings.com which track tackles for loss

aldon smith played 1003 defensive snaps: 19.5 sacks, 18 tackles for loss, 1 pass defended, 

jj watt played 936 defensive snaps: 20.5 sacks, 42 tackles for a loss, 16 passes defended.

Clinton Portis rookie season 1508 yards and 15 touchdowns.

If im an idiot and just start throwing numbers and assuming hes going to keep his pace for x amount of years in line with the GOAT's:

20,640 yards

205 rushing TD's

or Curt Warner (do you even know who that is?) rushing for 1440 and 13 touchdowns in his rookie year

roughly 19,710 and 177 touchdowns career on his pace

Both were on pace to break Emmit's yardage record.

Hell, Peyton was on pace for 96 TD's this season

Peyton Manning wants that record.  We have all seen him audible to passing plays at the goal line as opposed to handing it off.  Dude will go out of his way to throw a touchdown before he lets anybody else get the credit
