NFL Discussion Thread - Hall of Fame Game: August 3rd

See, there are two types of NFL fans: the people who watch the games, and the Box Score Bunch.

These are the guys who don't actually watch games outside of their favorite team -- if it's not team related, they're clueless. You can tell by the fact that in every post, they refer back to their team and make excuses. "WELL U SEE ANDRU LUCK IS BAD BCUZ THE LIONS DROP PASSES TOO GO LIONS." It's just sad.

The majority of us (I'd hope) actually sit down and watch football. We enjoy the sport and know a little more than the common fan. We watched the Indianapolis game and saw a great gameplan by San Diego -- sustained drives and own ToP. They realized that if you keep Luck off the field, guess what? You win games. Expect to see more of this in the future against Indy. Props to SD on a great gameplan.

We also saw 5 terribly dropped passes. I don't give a **** what happens in Detroit and NE, I know they have issues. It doesn't take anything away from the abysmal drops that hit the Colts. Reggie ******g Wayne dropped a ball. Stuff like that kills drives, period. Add in the fact that Trent Richardson was getting abused in all three facets (receiving, running and blocking) and you have failure.

But hey, what do I know?

Whoa...Jay Ratliff released after a failed physical. How do Cowboy fans feel about this?

This guy was a probowler, not to mention how thin the Cowboy's defensive line already is...this can't be good.

Obviously could've used him but I don't think any Dallas fan will be losing sleep over his departure. Dude was breaking down and not producing on the field. Don't think he would've been good for the locker room either.

I'm just mad about the cap hit :{

posted this in the Pats thread -- the current injury report is laughable . currently the following players are injured and not expected to play

Amendola
Vareen
Gronkowski
Connolly
Wilfork
Talib
Kelly
Mayo
Slater

that's 8 starters (Vareen technically isn't one) and 5 pro bowlers ...

they lead the league in salary cap dollars on the IR :{ how my Pats are 5-1 is still lost to me :lol

Mr. Irsay, you're one of the better owners in Football, you're my team's owner, but damn, shut your damn mouth. What you said, is true but you do not need to say this. You do not need to spool up Peyton Manning! Peyton did nothing but cook all his years he was in Indy. If it wasn't for him, the Colts would have moved to LA by now. He was the one who got that stadium built, he was the one who put butts in the seats, and he was the one who brought the Colts from the laughing stock of the NFL, to one of the powerhouses. Yes, we could have done a few things different and probably gotten a couple more championships. But the dude got you to two and one Championship.

You moved on when you released Peyton, so move on. No need to keep bringing the what ifs up and lets talk about today and the current week's opponent.

And btw I think he's back on the booze again. Poor dude.

how do you form tackle without "leading with your helmet"? i was always taught to put your facemask in the dude's chest

football headed in a bad direction. looking more and more like the nba every year :{

all we're going to have left is hockey. and even that is starting to copy this trend towards pussified sports :{

Roger has killed the sport over the last few years for me. I'll gladly watch my old tapes and films on TV, game was physical and allowed to be played. Won't ever be the same. Enjoy your 5,000 yard years QBs

I think the only thing that separates me and you on this is that I'm holding on as much as possible because I really want to see the Vikings win a Super Bowl. :lol

I hope Peyton gets all up in that *** on Sunday not on some revenge type **** but for the annoying story line Irsay created the this week.

Potentially a huge blow to #Vikings' struggling defense: Harrison Smith may need surgery for turf toe issue, per two people with knowledge.

#Vikings' plan is to let Smith rehab for now and hope he can return. Two doctors, including specialist, have said surgery needed eventually.
