Everything is in place for them to finalize not only the deal for Rodgers but for LB Clay Matthews.

The Packers have $18 million in salary cap space that is there for a reason. They have been working on deals for Rodgers and Matthews since the season ended and there's a good chance that all but a few details were worked out between negotiator Russ Ball and agent David Dunn at the NFL owners meetings.

Loser mentality.

Ask the Buffalo Bills how much weight they put into Super Bowl appearances...

If I'm comparing a résumé of the Bills vs someone like Cleveland (SB era and on), those appearances have Buff ahead. Winning a conference is worth something to me.

I've seen Boys fans talk about most SB appearances....that obviously includes the losses

i think you conference championships mean something...no loser mentality there...

your the best amongst your peers(conference), thats an accomplishment...of course the bills wish they never ran into the nfc east nd everyone taking turns spanking them...but to say those werent GREAT bills teams youll be a liar...

they obviously couldnt get over the hump but its an accomplishment to win the conference...u still get a bonus, a ring, a trophy...its not the regular season...and with the parity in the league and how hard it is to make it to the bowl..its hard work man , cant take that for granted..

I put weight on SB appearances for a franchise's resume. I do count division titles as well but not nearly as much weight. Don't you put any stock in either of those (if I was a jerk this is where mentioning your franchise does would occur)?

You aren't a Jerk and you bring up a valid point.

Don't get me wrong, rooting for a Franchise that has little to no history is difficult but everything is a :hat

Division and Conference titles are great, but I would give anything for championship :lol

And while those bills teams were great, they weren't good enough, I have a friends who's a bills fan and he doesn't even bring up those 4 SBs cause it gets quickly shot down :lol

Exactly, to be a conference champion is an accomplishment. Still not banner-hanging or chest-thumping worthy, though. It's crap like this...

So sad. :{

Eh it's a possibility, but I doubt it, his arm looked worse as the season went on, and he couldn't whip it through that thin Denver air.

Plus another season of age plus that weather/cold.

He's got one ring, that's enough

2 more would be nice

Your right, great addition to our discussion.

A 10 year old franchise can't be excited over its first title at any level.

I know I'm right, and it's sad.

It might as well have said:"Peyton had to sit the year out, couldn't use us as a toilet, and all we got was this division title banner."

But hey, if that counts as a 'title', congrats!

Aaron Rodgers final contract is almost in stone.
Schefter: Aaron Rodgers nearing extension
Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers are getting closer to a long-term contract extension that would make the star quarterback the highest-paid player in NFL history, according to league sources.

Both Rodgers and the Packers are hesitant to comment on a potential extension, but league-wide speculation is that the deal could average $25 million per year.

Both sides have been extremely careful when publicly commenting on a deal. But those familiar with the contract talks believe a deal will be completed this offseason, and could happen sooner rather than later.

A former Super Bowl MVP, Rodgers is under contract through 2014, having signed a six-year, $65 million contract in October 2008. Rodgers' base salary in 2013 is $9.25 million, while his 2014 deal is worth $10.5 million.

Those financial figures are drastically less than the contracts struck recently by other star quarterbacks. Rodgers' new deal is expected to rival those of Joe Flacco, Drew Brees and Peyton Manning, a trio of Super Bowl MVPs whose contracts are among the richest in NFL history.

Flacco became the NFL's highest-paid player earlier this month when he signed a six-year, $120.6 million contract with the reigning champion Baltimore Ravens. The Saints signed Brees to a deal last year that pays him an annual base salary of $20 million. Manning's deal with the Denver Broncos pays a base salary of $18 million.

Rodgers, 29, passed for 4,295 yards and 39 touchdowns last season while leading the Packers to their fourth consecutive playoff appearance. The three-time Pro Bowler enjoyed his best season in 2011, when he was named league MVP after passing for 4,643 yards and 45 touchdowns.

@AdamSchefter
Nice pickup in New Orleans: Saints plan to sign Cowboys LB Victor Butler.

@AdamSchefter
And so Saints DC Rob Ryan gets one if his former Cowboys LBs, Victor Butler, to help teach his D.

Such a win win situation for Rob in NOLA.
When the defense was literally last in the league...in almost every category...there's only room for improvement.

No matter what they are going to be better and he's going to look like the main reason why.

Pretty sure Chester has a copy of the Texans division title banner in his house, as much as he brings it up. He talks about it more than actual Texans fans. It's a little weird.

Osi only got 8.5....I'm sure he's not happy about that. Giants offered him a lot more for a 4-5 year deal last year

Right next to his game used Peyton jock strap and university of Oregon "this year, we swear" towel in volt.

Bruh I need this contract to be signed so I can actually get some work done today... **** has me on twitter getting carpel tunnel clicking for new tweets.

Wut?

What is there to be nervous about? Even if the worst happens (talks break down and they don't get anything done)...it's not like they would ever let his *** leave.

Everyone knows he's gonna be paid like a boss but I wouldn't put too much weight in #'s when teams constantly re-work deals to their benefit.

Mike Wallace's father said the Vikings offered his son more money but he didn't want to play anywhere with cold weather anymore... :rolleyes
