aikman was a great game manager and made plays when he needed to. i believe he said it himself in an interview if i recall. he made the plays when he needed to but leaned heavily on running the ball and the cowboys defense. he never called himself elite. i think he even admitted romo was better than him. aikman is a good qb in my book. not great but good.

Well, that's how I thought I remembered him too, but his TD:INT ratio is crap. If I want a QB who is a game manager, then I want more efficiency than that. INT's in the single digits and +20 TD's. I feel like I need to go back and watch some old Cowboys games. I think I have their SB against the Bills somewhere. The one in Pasadena.

The #1 Miami Dolphins Draft Bust of All Time is...

Eric Kumerow, who was a 1988 1st round pick, 16th overall.

For all of his strengths, one thing Don Shula was not was a very good drafter. And the Eric Kumerow selection highlights this fact.

It's well documented how the Miami Herald's headline the next day after the Dolphins selected Kumerow was "Who???"

From what I've read about the '88 draft, nobody considered this former Ohio State linebacker a first round pick. And based on his NFL career, we can see why. Kumerow spent three seasons in the league with the Dolphins before fading into obscurity - never having even started an NFL game.

And though the NFL Draft was an even bigger "crapshoot" back then than it is now, the list of guys the Dolphins could have drafted is rather impressive - including Thurman Thomas, Randall McDaniel, Craig Heyward, Chris Spielman, Eric Allen, and Ken Norton.

First round pick, #16, year after taking yet another DE at #16, he never, started, a game.

He had 5 sacks in 42 games.

Parmalee played running back for the Miami Dolphins and the New York Jets from 1992 to 2000. Parmalee's professional opportunity came when he tried out for the Miami Dolphins after working for UPS.

This was a year or two after they spent the 9th pick in the draft on Sammie Smith, the UPS guy became the starter.

But hey, Dan didn't do nothin in his day cept get stats.

Aikman had one of the best lines we've ever seen. Aikman knew his role and was great at it. He's probably not even in the top 20 QBs of all time.

The problem with stats is they don't factor in the competition.
For Troy Aikman to be successful his completion percentage was more important than his yards per game.

Troy was a game manager because he had to play against two HOF cornerbacks (Aeneas Williams and Darrell Green) four times a season. Williams played for the Cardinals and Green played for the Skins.

A kicker, 2 OL, and 4 defensive players. IN SEVEN YEARS. That was drafted for Dan as he passed thru his 20's into his 30's.

Those losses you mentioned to the Bills in 90-92-95, they gave up 44, 29, and 37 ******* points. The Bills went to 4 straight Super Bowls because they took Thurman Thomas in the 2nd round, after Miami took their second consecutive Defensive End in the first round, each of those players played THREE YEARS in Miami and were complete and utter busts. (Bosa and Kumerow)

Miami's defense was DREADFUL for over a decade. Jimmy came in in 3 years and drafted Zach Thomas, Daryl Gardener, Jason Taylor, Sam Madison, Patrick Surtain and had a top 5 defense in no time. Shula couldn't get **** done for a decade.

Running game? Bernie Parmalee became the Dolphins STARTING RUNNING BACK after working for UPS. UuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuPpppppppppppppppppppppppppSsssssssssssssssssssss Friendly. The ******* guy worked for UPS, and became the starting running back. That's what Dan Marino had to work with. 7 years of worthless ******* draft picks, a UPS guy running the rock, and a defense that gave up over 300 yards rushing in one single playoff game.

In 1990 they gave only 16 points the week before they played the Bills

In 1992 they shutout the Chargers the prior week

Against Bills, the Dolphins tried to play Marino Ball which played into the Bills hands with their similar style of K-Gun offense

The 1990 game, Marino was erratic early in the game and by the time he came around it was over for the Dolphins

The 1992 playoff game was similar story. Marino throwing interceptions and getting sacked....Final score Bills 29 Dolphins 10

Marino stats from the 2 Bills games.....47% completion percentage and 4tds 3 ints

Not numbers you'd expect from an All time great in a playoff game
