It Appears Clinton Portis Owes A Lot Of People A Lot Of Money

Deadspin.com

Court filings unearthed this week reveal that banks, the IRS, and a casino are lining up to collect from former star NFL running back Clinton Portis. Even worse, it looks like the bank is trying to foreclose on the house Portis bought for his mother in 2004.

Just last week, the bank holding the note to a home in Alachua County, Fla.—where Portis starred at Gainesville High School—continued its year-long quest to repossess the property whose deed is held by Portis and his mother, Rhonnel Hearn. That prompted a search into Portis’s other legal troubles, which include:

The IRS claiming he owes nearly $500,000 in back taxes.
MGM Grand Casino in Las Vegas winning default judgment in the amount of $287,178.56.
A dealer seeking $157,290 in payments on an Audi S5.
Foreclosure proceedings on a $512,000 mortgage for a Miami condo.
Settlement to avoid possible foreclosure on a property in Coffee County, Ala.
A $20,000 lawsuit from a condo association over assessment money.

Portis avoided foreclosure on the Miami property last year by selling it and thus getting the lawsuit dismissed, but he’s still facing trouble with the bright purple house north of Gainesville, which we believe is the one he purchased for his mother. (Purple and white are GHS’s colors; Portis says the color reminds her of “royalty.”) Court documents reveal Portis has yet to answer to the bank’s complaint—records show a private investigator failed at all attempts to serve Portis with the foreclosure notice, though when contacted by the P.I. the former University of Miami star said he “had a lawyer,” but refused to give the attorney’s name.

Meanwhile, the Clark County court in Nevada just last month declared default judgment in total of $287,178.56 to MGM Grand in a case we believe deals with Portis’s unpaid gambling debts. Court records show no attorney of record for Portis, and the default judgment implies he never responded to the lawsuit. Previously, Portis had been an investor in a failed casino that lost as much as $43.6 million. The lawsuit over the Audi S5 was dismissed without prejudice; we don’t know its final outcome, but a settlement is likely.

:lol yea...I don't trust paying bills online. Just me, tho. To each his own.

You prob use checks at the grocery store.

I hate people like you.

I seriously do.

:lol :{

I almost make a scene when this happens. They pull out the check book all slow, and start from scratch. At least have the grocery store name and date filled in. WHO USES CHECKS

also people who take full carts into self checkout

I will be sitting there with 3 items while these dopes buy $200 worth of crap and every other item they need help with

More glares as I stand with my six pack or whatever I'm trying to buy. I'm surprised I don't get into fights at the store, I glare at a lot of folks :lol

Check book at the grocery store is the worst :rollin

My mother in law pulled it out at the grocery store a few months ago. I was STUNNED. I told her come on, you serious with the checkbook right now? Holding up lines and **** :{

Checkbooks, people that watch as every item is rang up and feel the need to argue about prices, and coupon users are the bane of my existence. Got stuck behind this lady one time that pulled out a three-ring binder packed with sports cards pages. They were full of coupons. :|

And why the hell does everyone that still uses checks wait until everything is rang up and bagged before even writing that thing? START FILLING IT OUT BEFOREHAND YOU UNGRATEFUL WORM.

^ people with the coupons and arguing about prices annoy the living hell out of me

there is a CVS a couple blocks from me and older folks shop in it like it's a damn grocery store, literally stole carts from somewhere to take with them, they are always the ones argue coupons and pricing. Take the damn bus to the grocery store it's 5 minutes away :{

Dead serious saw a person try this in Target last year:

Checker rings up a PS4.
Customer looks at the price and goes "oh no, that price is wrong, it said $150"
Checker runs it again, still $400 or w/e they were at the time.
Customer continues arguing.
Checker asks for a price check, comes back $400.
Customer says that it was on a shelf that had a $150 price tag.
Checker says that another customer may have left it there, or it was misplaced, etc.
Customer gets belligerent, starts talking about how they should honor their prices and it's not their fault it was on that shelf.
Checker says there's nothing they can do.
Customer says "Fine, I'll just take my business elsewhere!" and storms out.

:| :| :|

I could never work in customer service. Respect those folks so much.

I used to work at a pizza shop for years in a so-so area and I would go in to get the store ready for opening, we would have people knocking on the glass to get 40's at 9am and then they would have like $1.47 in change and not enough to cover the $1.99 :{

I used to get so annoyed and would just be like give me what you F-ing have then they would be back like 2 more times during the day, one time this dude opened his jacket to let me see his gun and I was like alright dude take the damn St. Ides for free, it's all you

At a gas station in downtown Houston, saw a homeless guy try paying only a dollar for a big bag of chips.

Homeless man and the cashier started screaming at each other and then the dude just walked out with the bag of chips :lol

Will never go back to that gas station :lol

Man one time at a target I watched a firefighter yell at a checker screaming that the police and fire department will never show up if they need help.
