*Those who work on the business side of the Cardinals organization are nervous as the team approaches today's blackout deadline for sellingtickets.

As of yesterday afternoon, there were 5,600 tickets remaining for Saturday's playoff game against Atlanta. The NFL extended the blackoutdeadline 24 hours, to 2:30 today, but that's a lot of tickets to move in a 24-hour period. Channel 12 will show the game if the Cardinals beat theblackout deadline, but don't look for the television station to buy up the remaining tickets. I'm hearing that's not going to happen.

The Vikings also received an extension for their Sunday game, and they reportedly have about 10,000 tickets to move. The Chargers and Dolphinsannounced they have sold out.

*It will be interesting to see if the roof is open for Saturday's game. The weather is supposed to be nice, but the Cardinals might be forfeiting acompetitive advantage by opening it. Fans tell me that University of Phoenix Stadium is considerably noisier with the roof closed. I'm not a good judge ofthat because the press box is enclosed and insulated from much of the sound.

Closing it would increase the crowd noise and could make it tougher on the Falcons. Coach Ken Whisenhunt didn't take a side in the debate, saying theCardinals need to play well either way. I'm betting he wouldn't complain, however, if the lid stayed on Saturday.

Update: In three years at UofP, the Cardinals are 5-5 with the roof open and 10-4 with it closed. Those statistics are skewed a bit by the 2006 season. TheCardinals were 0-3 that year with the roof open but that was just a bad team all around (5-11). In Whisenhunt's two years, the team is 5-2 with it open(2-1 this year) and 7-2 with it closed (4-1 this year)..

This ain't no thang for the Chargers. We had NFL Network bail us out for the Thursday Night game against the Raiders.

We also usually have the Casinos bail us out as well to televise the games. Gotta love the real fans buying up them tickets.

Charger fans only show up when it counts.

..so don't associate mewith the people that aren't buying tickets

I just went to the Seahawks game here in Arizona. The Cardinals fans suck, they don't even care that the made the playoffs for the first time ever in AZ...This team should be moved to a local where it would be appreciated.

WOW. A playoff blackout game??? Is this the first time in history?

Whatever, that TV station will buy the tickets. They'd be stupid not to.

Phoenix-based Leslie's Swimming Pool Supply has stepped up to purchase a large block of tickets to assist the Cardinals in their efforts to sell-out Saturday's Wild Card playoff game against Atlanta.

The tickets are being offered at Phoenix-area Leslie's Swimming Pool Supply stores. Customers who purchase $100 or more in pool supplies will receive two tickets to the Cardinals-Falcons Wild Card game. Supplies are limited and this offer is only valid during Leslie's business hours on Friday, January 2 through noon on Saturday, January 3. Store hours vary by location. Click here to find a location nearest you.

A portion of the tickets will also be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Metropolitan Phoenix. Additional tickets to Saturday's game remain available for purchase through Ticketmaster by phone at (800) 745-3000 or on-line at www.ticketmaster.com.

Fans can also purchase tickets in person at the Cardinals Tempe facility box office (open 8:30 a.m. through 5 p.m.) and at the University of Phoenix Stadium box office (open 10 a.m. through 5 p.m.). The stadium box office will also be open on game day beginning at 10 a.m.

In order to air live on local television, league rules require games to be sold out 72 hours prior to kickoff. The NFL has granted the Cardinals two 24-hour extensions, through Friday afternoon.

Vikings can thank the Eagles fans that they only have 10,000 to move. 45% of season ticket holders did not request playoff tickets

The Miami Dolphins didn't sell enough tickets and it was blacked out in the area. That wasn't the only time either..a playoff blackout happened 8 yearsbefore 2000 too.

This is exactly why I have had the opinion since I was old enough to watch sports, that Arizona fans are the worst fans in all of sports. Are you kidding me?Havent had a home playoff game in 2983428 years, and they dont sell it out? Just add this to the list of reasons that AZ sports fans are the worst in america.

And I will quote this, just for emphasis:

Maybe Arizona consumers are smart?

Bad economy, ridiculous NFL playoff ticket prices. Guess a Cards game aint worth it.
