I may be wrong on this but why hasn't NIKE re-released the NIKE AIR MAESTRO 1? In my opinion, that shoe was the hook when Pippen first rocked 'em in the 1992 NBA season. The Black & White colorway with the upside down half triangle shaped "F" for flight on the tongue. If NIKE releases the Maestro 1, I'm definitely going to be in line for that sale!

I'm with you. I always preferred the Maestro 1 to the 2. Not sure why the 2 has gotten all the love. I'd kill for the black/whites and Michigans. Had the Michigans back in the day. My buddy begged me for weeks to let him wear them. Finally did, but made him promise me to not wear them in hoops practice...and guess what he did? KO'ed em. Kills me to this day LOL.

Peace,
J

There were a couple of under the radar TB type releases for these back in the day. My friend got an Orlando Magic-y colorway from some random out of town store while on vacation and damn near blew my mind. I also remember a white/black/purple one. I'd be perfectly fine with the main 3, though -black/white, black/red, and Michigan-

Peace,
J

I agree! The Maestro 2's and the maestro's that followed were a flop in my opinion. They kept the foot ventilation scheme with those air holes in the side of the shoe which was the defining feature of that shoe and used it in the Maestro 2's. Other than that I thought and still think the 2 is overrated. Good call!

I had a similar experience with my first pair of air jordans. I was 12 years old when I got a pair of Air Jordan 6's and I never wore them accept for when I wanted to show them off. My cousin came to visit me and begged me to wear them for a day. I reluctantly agreed and let him wear them. I don't know what I was doing at the time but I think I had left to go hang out with some other friends of mine or something. When I got home that later that day I noticed my cousin that lived 3 hours away had took off with my J's. There was nothing I could do. I was devastated because I knew in my gut that it was the wrong decision to let him wear my J's in the first place. I knew this because of past experiences with my cousin. I felt stupid more than anything LOL. Oh well I got my revenge years later! Ha Ha It was a dish served cold if you know what I mean!!

Wore these for my freshman year of basketball. :hat

If I remember though, this shoe had massive problems with a piece of the sole peeling off. I went through 2 or 3 pairs of them and each one had the sole peel off at the same spot. Same with my friend's pairs.

These were what I wanted as a consolation prize, cause I knew there was no way my mom was gonna spring for some VIIs.

These are my all-time non-Jordan favorite bball shoe. I wore the soles so thin that I was sliding around the court during games. Nike Pleeeeeeease bring these back.

Beautiful!!  And beyond impressive that they're still wearable at 20+ years old.  That's that Magic TB that I mentioned several posts back.

  Peace,

   J

The fact they weren't ds really helped. I think in these instances pre-worn sneakers 20+ years old is an advantage. I have zero crumbling and minor nubuck chipping on the Magic pair. My OG Flight Lites and Reebok Pump Verticals are the same way. All are a testament to what craftsmanship used to be.

I played HS ball in both maestros, and I preferred the 1.
Though, I blew both of them out in practice.

I've been ranting for years about NIKE retroing the Maestro 1...I also agree with y'all about the Maestro 2 getting all the love and attention. I was 12 years old when they released and a friend of mine gave them to me and I absolutely loved them. I'll be in line when these get retro'd and same goes for the all black with white swoosh flight lite II mid. Both are my favorite Pippen shoes.
