I personally have never owned a pair of 97/98s with a phylon midsole (Skepta 97s, W Neon 95-inspired 97s). But these are simply too lightweight and have better step-in comfort, so I have to assume they used phylon foam for the black midsole. Polyurethane is heavy, hard, and has a rubbery feel to it. These have none of those characteristics. I wear a size 14, and while opening the box I assumed these were something other than the OK 98s due to how light the box+shipping box was.

Materials are either excellent synthetics, or very good short suede and leather. Colors are outstanding. I had that "what have I done..." feeling spending $190 on these but they're easily top 5 98s for me now.
