Or just use compact fluorescent light bulbs.. they do not heat up as much as regular incandescent/halogen bulbs. A bit of distance prob helps too..ive seen this happen on other shoes

i like how jayzrdead made the back part of the midsole with the circle in it the same color as the strap.
balances the shoe out better.

Wrap the tip in some blue painter's tape. Lightly grab it over the top with a pair of needle nose pliers, and pinch the shoe string at the base of the lace tip really hard. Should twist off.
