Nike dunk w/ built in Wi-Fi designed by NT'er!

Big ups to mstrpln.

Its odd how this is just now getting press though, im pretty sure he did this project at least a year ago, if not longer.

purpose?

I did these 3 years ago with Ubiq as a experimental project to push the idea of footwear further converging design and technology, rather than just painting ashoe a different color.
The insole on the left foot is pressure sensitive and triggers a Wi-Fi detection unit that scans the area around you for a signal, showing the signal strengthon three LEDS on the top of the forefoot.
The goal is to find your way towards the stronger Wi-Fi signal, hence "A Step in the Right Direction".

The backstory around this project was to integrate this technology into something that could be worn in order to covertly hop onto an unknowing wirelessnetwork within an urban environment.

For some odd reason this got picked up by the media this weekend, someone probably saw it on my site and it went from there, hitting the mainstream media andall the sneaker blogs.
