I’ll take whichever ones I can get my hands on. I like the black color way but I always favor black based sneakers. I would go with the greyish pair if I could choose just to switch it up.

I just hope I'm able to get a pair. Prefer the black cage pair, but don't care which one I can get since they all look good.

What kinda kids growing up in small cities got the kinda money to drop $300-400 on some basketball shoes
Ummm a lot lol.

You’re thinking about that 300-400 as excess to be used on wants and luxuries. Many will spend there last pennies to be fly b.

Trust me, in high school I spent whole paychecks on clothes and/or shoes. Another truth is that small town kids may have parents that have money or still buy them $300-400 shoes even if they barely/didn’t have it.

Nike isn’t stupid. Remember, there were people in the 80’s asking who would spend $100+ on basketball shoes and here were are now haha.

Yeah, 3-400 is someone's rent in Section 8 housing. A lot of broke kids ain't gonna have the bread for these.

"Thank You @jerrylorenzofor these Nike Air Fear of God 1’s. I remember two summers ago when you invited me to your office in LA and let me listen in on your meeting with @jonbuscemi when you first mentioned your collaboration with Nike to me. Even seeing the inspiration, moodboard, & creative direction of this entire project was extremely fascinating. I mean even being one of the few black designers that’s not a athlete to have your own Nike silhouette is very Impressive & motivating.
I thank you again, these are definitely here to stay. You always stayed official. @fearofgod @nikebasketball"

What Kanye has with Adidas is much bigger than what any of these guys are doing at Nike. Plus, I doubt Kanye walked in there and worded what he wanted as eloquently as can be. He basically admitted to asking for control of Nike's supply chain on the Breakfast Club, which is ridiculous.

More like what he had. I think you could argue that the Nike x Virgil’s (even today after 27 pairs and other collab items) relationship carries more weight given Virgil’s brand power (number one brand in lux w off white and LV not far behind, plus positive cultural impact) coupled with Kanye’s political/cultural/mental freefall.

Virgil’s influence is all over most facets of their lifestyle footwear and apparel...the impact is massive.

I’ve told myself the same thing... but you can bet that if I get the opportunity to cop I’m letting the clip go.
:lol :lol

The one thing that slows me down now from impulse purchases is that since I started making good money I match whatever I spend on stuff like shoes with a charitable donation.

If I was not doing that, best believe you would catch on StockX letting the yoppa sing.

Virgil does not have a single original silhouette at Nike. He is remixing established sneakers. Kanye has six unique silhouettes with a bevy of color ways and much more coming down the pipe. They've started producing his sneakers in numbers far beyond what Virgil and Jerry's sneakers will be produced at. His deal at Adidas is not a collab, it's a full blown partnership and it's still in its early days.

As far as brand power and all that stuff is concerned, that stuff is cyclical. Virgil is hot now, just like when Ye first moved to Adidas he was super hot. Everything looked like Yeezy. Fashion is all about trends.

you mean everything looked like roshes but i agree with you that its cyclical. perfect timing at the perfect time for Virgil with his appointment at LV and the direction of his brand (anyone remember pyrex vision?) and just seems like a soft move by nike aligning with all of kanyes entourage friends; whatever sells .............

Kanye said the biggest factor was royalties but yeah they still weren’t gonna give him his own sole the way he wanted.

Definitely opened the door for all this. Just a few years to early
