Can we please keep uneducated and ignorant comments to ourselves? The thing sold out out nationwide in the first 24 hours. I think this is the first console to come with HDMI cables.

Was watching the unboxing videos; looks interesting to say the last.

Didn't pre-order so I might have to stop by the Nintendo World Store in Rocker feller on Saturday and see how the line is.

Wait so is this a handheld/controller unit?...as in it can be taken with you to work?...my wife LOVES the old school super Mario, so she would love super Mario WiiU....I just don't need another home system, as we have a Wii already, but if she can take this with her, I might be picking it up for her bday...

Na, you wont be able to take the tablet with you anywhere you want. Nintendo has said that the tablet can work from up to 20 feet away.
So depending on the way your house is built you can essentially use the tablet while you're in another room.

So basically this is another gimmick from Nintendo? (Just like the Wii)

Some cool videos displaying a couple of features (The videos are in Japanese though).

Wii U Internet Browser (which I think looks pretty good)

Wii U Miiverse (Social feature within games)

my brother is getting this thing, definitely checking it out for any new Zelda games and Smash Bros games

btw, in case anyone is wondering; someone asked this

Hello i am a gamer and i wanted to know if the software developers for the Wii U had taken into concideration that people might find an exploit on the new system making it hackable/softmodding. If its not it will make my gaming experience so much better. and also i was wondering if nintendo had implemented a support service so players can report each other?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Most certainly yes, both Nintendo and their software developers have taken in consideration that there will be attempts at hacking the Wii U and take steps to try and make sure that there are as few as possible ways to hack the system and its video games, much like they have done with the 3DS.

But as with everything, no matter how hard a person tries, someone else may figure out some way to do it, so if that does happen Nintendo will release a firmware update to fix whatever exploit the person may have used to hack the console.

And at this time there is really no way to officially report a hacker, as they haven't set up a direct reporting webpage or anything similar like that within the video games, but a person can use Nintendo's webform to inform them, and they will take the necessary steps to hopefully stop the person.

Tekken Tag 2 Wii U edition.
People seem to be getting upset that the Wii U version will have Tekken ball mode.

Video showing the other Nintendo costumes.

ZombiU Launch Trailer

Somebody please post the Jaguar fan gif @ ALL OF THIS.

Obviously you are not getting the Wii U, so why do you continue to post in this thread? You are obviously tolling bruh... :{

But I just read through the thread and their is a lot of misinformation going around. The Wii U is definitely more powerful than the current gen systems. Nintendo would have had to go out of their way to make a new console that is on par with 7 year old hardware.

Graphics
For the most part, launch most games will be displayed at 1080p running at 60FPS, as developers get more familiar with the system prettier games will come. Games that are already out for the PS3 and XBox 360 already look better on the Wii U because their is no upscaling required. Black Ops 2 for the Wii U is the definitive version graphically compared to the other current systems.

Games
Most of the launch games are ports of PS3 and XBox360 games, BUT the key difference are graphical updates along with integrated DLC. In many cases the Wii U version will be a better experience because of the game pad functionality. As for exclusives, it is safe to assume Zombi U, Bayonetta 2, New Super Mario Bros U, Rayman Legends, Nintendoland will be solid titles. Not to mention new Zelda, 3D Mario, Metroid, Smash Bros that will come out later on in the systems life.

Pricing
The original Wii launched at $250 and sold out immediately. The standard Nintendo Wii U with HD 1080p Native graphics will sell for $50 more and is currently sold out of pre-orders. To me, the price point is right where it needs to be compared to demand for the system. The Deluxe edition, which is $50 more than the Standard Wii U, comes with a $60 game, 26 more gigs of memory, an HDMI cable, etc, etc. A very good value, in my opinion...

Verdict
In my opinion the Wii U will have a very successful run and could rival the success of the SNES. It will be out at least a year before the next gen installments of the Xbox and PlayStation and should have a huge installed base as a result. Nintendo is catering to 3rd party developers and looks to have hardcore 3rd party games the original Wii lacked. :smokin

The question to me is whether to get the system at launch, to wait until more 1st party exclusives come out, or to wait for a price decrease next holiday season.

Not for me. Will finally be gettin a Wii though

If price is not a big factor you might as well get a Wii U. It will play all of the Wii titles and support all of its peripherals including the Wii motion controller The Wii is at the end of its life cycle and developers are no longer gonna be supporting it.

Two major factors come into play in my decision to purchase this system:
1.Will this system have a easy hack, like the Wii did?
2.Will the creat a new installment of Zelda for the Wii-U?

If the answer is 'Yes' to both, then Im more than likely to purchase the new system because I enjoyed Zelda for the Wii,so much so that I beat it twice.

This thing will flop horribly.
I will cop if it gets hacked soon after release though
If Nintendo can do what its planning to then NO!. If Sonys PS4 is really a A10-5800k in a box and Microsoft is going the way its planning according to that power power Nintendo is Fine. The Wii U will play all the games come the next 4-5 years along with the new consoles easy. The Tablet controller the way its looking will be a big fixture in alot of homes especially the Japanese 20 something.

Everyone said Sony would DESTROY NINTENDO with the PSP

but No

McFlyy do you have a Wii?
If so when did you get it? What titles for it do you have?
And how often do you play it to this day/ Do you get new titles for it regularly?

Yes

Got it when Smash Bros. came out and I have Zelda, Mario Galaxy 1&2, Mario Party 8, Sonic Unleashed, some Rabbids game and Mario Kart.

To this day I play it every once in a while since I mainly play on my PC.
Since there was not alot of 3rd party support for the Wii I didn't/don't get new games regularly because I can get them in HD with better controls on my PS3.

I don't see where you're going with these questions but either way Wii U is pretty much fixing the flaws in my eyes that didn't have me playing the Wii as much as I wanted.

HD - check
Good controller - check
3rd party support - check (I think most of the launch day titles are from 3rd parties, especially Ubisoft)

On top of that you have the Nintendo TVii app that I'm sure i'll be using a whole bunch, Nintendo's Eshop (which is already great on 3DS), a cool looking online community and it's only 50 bucks more than the original Wii was when it launched, I don't see the problem.

The only gripe that alot of people seem to have with it is the storage memory which is whatever to me since you can hook up whatever size external drive you want.

I'm super hyped for this. Preordered mine the first day at bestbuy, just found out they're doing a midnight launch, I'll probably show up around 11:00. Gonna get mario and zombiu, plus i got the deluxe so I'll get Nintendo Land.

Fun Fact: Wii U is the first console to come with HDMI cables.

Your only chance to get a Wii U at this point in time is to go to a store who's doing a first come, first serve situation.

I hope I can snag one at Nintendo World. Since Amazon and Nintendo had a falling out, there's going to be a few extra units in the wild.
