Everyone, a brief moment of silence for the Nintendo Wii Shop as today marks the end of "adding Wii Shop Points" to the Wii Shop in order to purchase Virtual Console and WiiWare games from the Wii Shop

It was because of the Wii Shop that I was able to play Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. I used the Classic Controller to play them too. So to me this actually sucks to see lol.

Same, I never owned either of the N64 Zelda games growing up (due to my bias against Zelda games during my childhood)........but the Wii Shop finally gave me an opportunity to finally re-explore Ocarina that I ignored for most of my childhood, while also giving me a chance to finally own the original Super Smash Bros. N64 game that I was never able to get for my own console when I was younger.

I was lucky to be able to get Ocarina, Smash 64 and re-purchase my old childhood classic Super Mario 64 on the Wii Shop before "Wii Points" finally came to an end.

Granted, I also did as "insurance" if there is no N64 Classic Edition announcement (which looks likely not happening) and also as "insurance" if the Nintendo Switch's "Virtual Console" ends up being a total bust when the Paid Online Service is released in September.

Same... whenever I played OOT back then I never got out of Kokiri Forest and didn't care enough to try. One day I just randomly decided to play the game again and it ended up becoming one of my favorite games ever.

I also got Mario Party 2 and StarFox 64 (didn't realize you had to beat the game in one sitting because there's no save file)

Breath of the Wild is a big reason I decided to re-explore Ocarina of Time (which I did play a lil bit at a friend's house when I was younger) and also re-explore A Link To The Past as well (also played at a friend's house, but started my anti-bias against Zelda games).

The moment I started playing Ocarina at the beginning, I was like.........well, this is different than how BOTW started (and smaller too, geez I forgot how the N64's limitations made "worlds" feel small). But I'm definitely getting into Ocarina more and more as a I play it (with the little playing time I have with my backlog of games).

That being said, I can now shift my focus on investing my "Wii resources" on finding the Gamecube games I never owned in my childhood (since I never owned a Gamecube as a kid, 'cuz I began my small #PCMasterRace phase after the N64).

Hunting for Mario Sunshine, Smash Melee, and the Gamecube version of Twilight Princess at a decent price is an utter pain for my wallet and time :smh:

Yeah classic GameCube games can be hard to find for a good price. Those are all great choices. I'd also recommend Mario Strikers and Mario Sluggers. Strikers especially is really fun when you play with friends.

I loved Strikers when I played it a friend's house, and I'm hoping that it gets a Switch updated rendition somewhere down the lifeline of the Switch.......especially seeing at the decent job they did revitalizing Mario Tennis after its Wii-U "stinker."

Man I hope this is true

Bruh Hyrule Field was HUGE to me as a kid. You gotta be looking at it through a 2018 lens and not a 98 one
Right! I remember rolling through the field trying to make it to the castle before dark because I would turn the game off if I got caught lackin by those skull kids. My cousin played and beat the dungeon inside the fish for me (Jabu Jabu's belly I think?) and I was able to become adult link. Man when I walked out and saw those zombies all over the town I did not play that game anymore. Game was horrifying to me as a kid, never finished it. Got the 3ds version but I hate playing the 3ds now that the switch is a thing. I need a remake or virtual console asap
